Just a guess, but they see the way Trump and the MAGA movement are turning on Bondi and are just leaning into maximum fealty to Dear Leader

The excuse is always post hoc. No one gives it to them. They find the excuse once they want to do the fascism.

I was mostly saying that I think that if you can manage a system which somehow uses various pieces of different systems and rejected the parts that don‘t work, that in itself could be a fully defined system. But I don’t think you can do that.

And I reject deontology out of hand, I think.

Yeah, I can get that. I’m not personally advocating for this smorgasbord version of ethics. I think I’ve finally accepted that I’m going with virtue, although I haven’t found the system of virtues for me yet…

Also, I’d like to take this opportunity to pitch my new television show idea called “Oliver Platt is a Very Kind Doctor and Looks Out for Everyone”

It’s exactly the same show as Chicago Med but we ignore any storyline that doesn’t actively involve Oliver Platt

Thank you for your consideration.

I think I would analogize it more as a 3D scan of that object: multiple images composited into a single idea that contains all the information. While I may not then be able to personally hold all the information, the framework is fully realized and contains all the info.

Personally, I would say that, if it can be fully captured at all, then we could necessarily create a singular framework that houses it. In other words, isn’t saying “we can capture it if we use certain aspects of all three major branches of moral philosophy“ wouldn't that be the framework?

I feel like we should consider the extent to which polling has severely undercounted how many people actually want racist policies and only pretend to oppose them when asked directly by said pollsters.

Imagine taking the position that a soldier has the right to refuse to fight in a war because they are afraid they could get hurt. That‘s precisely the risk we all agreed to when we joined. What else could be the purpose?

Not to preempt Aaron here but…

Have you tried virtue ethics?
