Ian Smith, the former leader of Rhodesia under white minority rule, could have conceivably watched the actor Ian Smith return to Neighbours as the character Harold Bishop in 1996, five years after Harold was washed out to sea. Smith could have watched Smith play Harold for the next decade.

Sorry, correction. He could have played the arcade version, which was released in December 1988. The Megadrive version came out after his death.

Facebook reminds me that this is the anniversary of when a magpie walked into the tutorial room and I had to evacuate the class as it started swooping around the room. It then pooped on a desk before leaving.
