The 6th decadal report on the status and trends of wetlands in the US is out. From 2009-2019 we lost 221K acres of wetlands. This is a 50% increase in loss compared to last decade. So, our efforts to conserve and restore wetlands need to be redoubled. storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/631d...

In honor of #DarwinDay here's a picture of a few damselflies caught by roundleaf sundew in a Sierran wetland. Darwin studied roundleaf sundew's carnivorous adaptations and published his findings in "Insectivorous Plants" in 1875. archive.org/details/inse...

Our new Yellowstone National Park study, summarizing 20 years of work, is getting some good press!
Apex predators not a quick fix for restoring ecosystems, 20-year study finds
A Colorado State University experiment spanning more than two decades has found that removal of apex predators from an ecosystem can create lasting changes that are not reversed after they return—at least, not for a very long time.

Water flowing out onto the surface of Ackerson Meadow, Yosemite National Park, for the first time in ~150 years. It's an honor and privilege to be a part of the team restoring this wetland by filling in an enormous erosion gully. #WorldWetlandsDay www.nps.gov/yose/getinvo...
