this is an ex. of gestalt principles of good figure. when lights coming from individual wristbands are arranged to form a heart, the viewer naturally organizes the scattered points of light into a unified, clear image of a heart.

this picture i took of the sunset sets an example of the brightness threshold in visual perception. as the sun sets, the amount of light available decreases, & your eyes gradually adjust to the dimmer conditions. rods are more active than cones.
