I did English at undergrad, media & politics at PhD. I run a research agency (when I'm not writing), using linguistics & anthropology/ethnography skills I learned at university. Through this, I pay tax & I pay people. In a very literal sense, my degrees make an economic contribution

All of this, dear Suzan; the reason my parents wouldn't let me do English and instead had to be convinced to let me do York's -- what they should have called Communications, because it confused ppl and it wasn't creative writing, and... in high school, AND uni, always asked 4 help on this too

Ppl who feel the same now are stealing the books and stories I wrote, which I used my knowledge of English lit to write, because cash.

That is also one that makes me angry all these years later, and especially because it was used as a plot device to justify "Well, this is how you get Dark WIllow." As if that trio of f**kfaces hadn't already done enough damage and horrors before that.

PSA: Starbucks is now apparently banning their employees from wearing N95s/masks, even when they're sick. A friend of mine tested positive for COVID today and she called out sick from her Starbucks; they told her to come in TOMORROW & no masks allowed. 😬

Yes!! I would also encourage people to read more about Charles W. Chesnutt, and his other books. He passed for white completely and was of one eighth African descent, but chose to identify as a person of colour and fought for equality for Black people in America esp in the South 📚

A white male horror author who shall remain unnamed, used one of the images from this book, without permission or clearance or consent, I might add, and without any consideration of how it would make Black readers feel to see it. Such a desecration of a book that I hope has disappeared from sale.

Just your reminder, that as the amazing professor Ben Railton points to the map of lynchings in America, that the media has been trying to cover up what happened to Trey Reed on that Mississippi campus. It doesn't take 2 autopsies to confirm a lynching. Hold his family close to your hearts, folks.

Do not buy my books from Amazon or Down and Out Books directly. I will not get paid. I should get paid, as per my contract, but in an email from D&O I’ve been told ‘no further payments will be issued.’
It absolutely blows it is ending this way, but man, pay your authors what they are owed.
