Pumpkins are now appearing at the magical little cottage! ✨️
A faded red brick path meanders to a small cottage painted green with blue trim. A pumpkin sits under a mailbox in the foreground. On the red brick chimney, a metal sculpture of a waning crescent moon above a rose bush covered in salmon colored blooms. A lovely early October scene. Oh yes, and a small dog stands on the brick path with one ear at attention.

Man in the moon, but I know she is a woman.
Only a woman walks from window to window
in the middle of the night,
checking on her children and pulling
her light cotton robe around her shoulders,
padding on worn slippers
that make the faintest shirring sound
gliding so softly against the floor

there is the world
out there
and the world
that's near

one is a fire
the other: refuge

but time is a circle
and gravity a mouth

smoke is coming—
I can smell it on the air

The realm of fairy tales is vast, deep, and high, filled with many things: all kinds of animals and birds are found there; endless seas, countless stars; beauty that is an enchantment, an ever-present danger; both joy and sorrow are as sharp as swords. —J.R.R. Goodnight.
Fox and Owl, Tuesday Riddell.
Owl in tree, crescent moon, starry night sky, moths and fireflies. Beneath the tree are roots and a fox asleep underground. A spider dangles from his web from a branch. By the base of the tree there is a lizard and flowers, ferns and grass. Painting.

To associate winter
with darkness and cold

is to miss the fullness
of emptiness.
