Good morning!

I think I'm going to move over my biggest Hotel thread from the other place as a way to say hello again.

It seems like we could all use a little joyful day dreaming anyway.
I've tidied my bedroom, done a little writing, taken an excursion to the clearance Dillard's to buy a couple nighties, had my Official Thanksgiving Leftovers Sandwich, checked in with my sick friend, and now I'm all at loose ends with myself.

First unclaimed time I've had in months.

We are still, I assure you, New York Fucking City.
600 ICE agents were supposed to be deployed to Canal Street. Hundreds of New Yorkers gathered instead.

Quick summary by me:

This potato soup recipe from the back of the Bob's Red Mill potato flakes recipe is so delicious and easy it feels like cheating.

I zhuzhed tonight's into Loaded Baked Potato Soup with sour cream, black pepper, cheddar, with green onions & bacon for toppers.

(It is 4 dashes of worcestershire tho)

SOMETIMES getting exactly what you want IS the key to happiness. SOMETIMES it really IS that simple.

(she says, having temporarily gotten her preferred hours back at work, which seems to have solved nearly every irritating thing in her life)

This is genuinely my favorite treatment on the topic of modesty I've seen in 15+ years of Discourse online, and 30 years of reading religious/historic/sociologic books that touch on dress/respectability/modesty.
A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.

I am temporarily back to my early shift for the first time since June, and it feels so much better already.

I got a little wedge of this on sale for a care package I'm putting together for a friend and it is genuinely the most delicious brie I've ever tasted.

Cold, straight from the fridge, it is so delicious I don't think I can ever go back to what I was buying

Holy f@$k!

“ChatGPT exhibits the highest level of anti-Black racism ever experimentally recorded.”

This whole video is jaw-dropping.
I need everyone, esp anyone working in education or tech (but really everyone) to WATCH THIS CLIP of @drtanksley.bsky.social discussing the technologies infiltrating our schools & psyches and how she is addressing it with our young people. youtu.be/5mtcSL4S3HQ

A few years ago I made a Thanksgiving Menu, Prep Schedule, and Grocery List in a single spreadsheet, and it has genuinely made my life SO MUCH BETTER.

I don't have to think, worry, or wonder -- I just look at my spreadsheet, and do what it tells me.

This video took me all week to make, and the recipe is WILDLY delicious, so I am shamelessly seeking compliments now.

Q: “Are you affirming you think Trump is a fascist?”

TRUMP: “That’s ok, you can just say yes.”

ZOHRAN: “Ok. Yes.”

As someone who knows cults up close and personal, this is my take on MTG.
If she has actually woken up from her cult she will never attempt to hold public office again and will spend her life trying to undo the harm she did while deluded.

Anything short of that is just another cynical power grab.
November 22, 2025 at 1:57 AM
I am refusing to think or ponder beyond this exact moment.

Because Mamdani rolled a Nat 20 charisma check in the Oval-- which most likely means that ICE will stay away from NYC

And MTG has had such a deep crack in the brainwashing that she's resigning.

Tomorrow can deal with tomorrow.

I just want to say -- I haven't had socials on my phone since March when my real phone died and I switched to the Backup Phone.

Got my Real Phone fixed yesterday, so today I have Bluesky in my hand, for this particular moment in time.

And this timeline is like a drug today. I can't uninstall.

A few years ago my former church did a multi-week study where we as a congregation went through the denominational deacon training materials, and I was so appalled that I stood up and asked straight out,

"Has *a single* poor person vetted any of this? Because this is dehumanizing and undignified"

I have a project that I'm passionate about, believe it would do good in the world, and have the skills to execute.......but can't figure out how to fit it into my schedule now that I'm not working the early shift (like I have for the past decade).
