the tactics of a specific exchange, i don't have the spoons to judge, but we're in a situation that pain is going to happen for everyone, and we're just choosing how much and who bears the worst of it

i'm not like, happy about this! i don't want anyone to go without healthcare because their hospitals closed

but the people in those places voted for this, like, specifically, and will not notice/care if the hospital *didn't* close because the democrats did something to save it

in many respects a lot of culture war grievances are luxury items. you purchase the republican political agenda like you would a rolex.

because other than the apocryphal blue haired barista encounters or feral hog swarms, "culture" is not a day to day problem the government needs to solve

also just like, we need to be clear about reality. just because a statement serves a valid rhetorical purpose doesn't mean it's allowed to be misleading. the truth is independent of our preferences and if we lose sight of that we're all at the octopus rodeo without our safety hats

i'm still tinkering with the construction because it's easy to accidentally say "you are unworthy of freedom" but that's not the intent. at a certain point freedom requires not demanding the government boss your kids around for you when they get a haircut you disapprove of

i don't think we can recover. i think a new nation must be born out of this. it can be mostly the same nation but with a slightly new graphics engine and more cosmetic monetization, but it at least needs a balance patch

they also seem to think that the losing wars in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc, were lost because of individual combat performance in engagements with the enemy
