this is obviously intended to chill dissent but i think it's going to backfire on them. what the lawmakers said was just directly true. and trying to get them for it is just going to raise their profile and the salience of what they said!
MS NOW confirms: The FBI is working with Capitol Police to schedule interviews with the six Democratic lawmakers who urged service members to refuse to comply with illegal orders.

Each of my parents has texted me requesting that I tell them when I board

you miss six flights in a row, a decade ago, and the trust is just gone forever

I find the use of "warriors" rather than soldiers somewhat infantilizing.

As if US service members are playing dress up with swords.
This is likely unlawful command influence

The people in 1827 had no sense of humor, and couldn't recognize a good bit when they had one
from the 1200s till 1827 students getting a MA at Oxford had to swear an oath to never reconcile with Henry Symeonis, even long after who Henry Symeonis was was lost.

only in 1912, 85 years after the oath was abolished was Henry Symeonis' identity rediscovered, they still don't know what he did.

As with all semantical disputes, Britain forfeited the right to call cookies biscuits in the Treaty of Paris.
love the website where posting a picture of a biscuit inspires deranged comments and some of the most tedious discourse imaginable

My old cat does nothing but eat, sleep, and get in trouble.

His arthritis can't be too bad if he's still determined to vault to the top shelf, right?
I mean, he can't get himself down anymore, but I like the energy.

I met someone last weekend whose family also has a tradition of making Pink Stuff for Thanksgiving

Pink Stuff is a frozen desert-type substance served as part of main meal, composed of cool whip, cherries, and other ingredients

I'm sure it has a real name, but the real name was not passed down

Making the turkey taste good is a CORE HOLIDAY CHALLENGE
In a great moment for mankind, after years of effort, I have convinced my American family to abandon the turkey and opt for a bird that actually tastes good for Thanksgiving this year

Google just changed its settings so that it is reading all of your mail, and all of the attachments to your mail, in order to train its LLM. It does not ask your consent. If you turn it off your inbox becomes unusable.

I'm enraged but I don't know what to do.

Truth Social users are not happy with Trump on this one.

Debate’s over folks
Reporter: Are you affirming that you think the president is a fascist?

Mamdani: I've spoken about --

Trump: Just say yes, it's easier than explaining.

a significant reason Mamdani can get away with this and other Dems can’t is less that he’s charmed Trump and more that he’s charmed you, dear reader, which is why you’re not yelling at him for being a collaborator or an appeaser right now

This is very good

Hard to know for sure through the veil of time/limited sources, but it seems likely I would've been Team Hemlock.
Socrates: I have been persecuted for my philosophical views

Me: Holy shit! You were condemned for trying to define piety?

Soc: LOL no...no not those views

Me: So....the nature of the soul?

Soc: Haha no not those views either

Me: Which views, exactly?

Soc: Oh, you know the ones

I try to be honest with my niece, so I told her the truth about how my uncle died many years ago when she asked (He was murdered)

She got confused, and thought I was talking about someone else in my family who was also killed with a gun (suicide, softened for her ears to "accident").

I don't want to be too credulous here; but I think destroying evidence a day after being served may be beyond Trump admin's competence
ICE’s Detention Center outside Chicago was sued on October 30 for allegedly abusing detainees. One day later, a "system crash" lost all video footage that could have shown how detainees were being treated. trib.al/QwT3aqI

God forbid we call a swastika, a noose, or the slavers' flag hate symbols.

I think Trump admin will regret this. A little too Fuentes-forward.
Exclusive: The U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify the swastika, nooses and the Confederate flag as hate symbols.

The military service drafted a new policy that classifies them as “potentially divisive.”
