Greetings new arrivals. I'm Sam and for the most part I am but a humble shitposter.

I have a background in studying Nazi Germany, the late Russian Empire and the early USSR which I thought would be a neat party trick but then Timothy Snyder started appearing on MSNBC and now I hate everything

Seeing what the CARES act got us, I am now drafting a Larry Summers apology form. Insufficient stimulus is actually the answer or the hog people of this country will deport their Abuela.

there was a video back in 2022 of Russians who captured Polish equipment and thought the instructions were Russian written using Latin characters and the whole thing was part of an elaborate psyop

As a reminder, when Jack Posobiec was in the US Navy, they assessed his full capabilities and concluded that he was best suited to collecting samples for urinalysis

Incredible.

Jack Posobiec references the earliest version of antifa -- the anti-fascists in the Weimar Republic who were opposed to the Nazi Party -- as the bad guys.

It really can't be said enough: the goal of the "anti-woke" movement was always to destroy social norms against bigotry. And it worked. And there's a whole lot of purportedly "left" thinkers & commentators who helped it -- indeed, it couldn't have been done without them.

They should feel bad.

This is terrifying!

ICE breaks into this woman’s car in the pick-up line at West Loop Elementary school in Chicago and detains her before she can pick her kids up from school. (They were eventually let go after showing their documents)

This is Trump’s America.

ICE is a rabid animal and must be put down. Its rogue agents must be unmasked, stripped of their badges, and prosecuted. Its leaders must be imprisoned.

I'm at the point where I think the whole "coastal liberal elite" thing is total bullshit because it's very obvious that everything to the west of the Appalachian Mountain range is viewed differently

I also genuinely think this is downstream of Dem senate and house leadership both being from New York

Yeah like the biggest thing here is that there hasn't been much noise about stopping the gestapo shit as part of an agreement and the whole "they can just ignore it" argument applies to any agreement we make with them

This is nightmarish and every Dem politician, every media figure who is silent is complicit. This is not supposed to happen here. Masked thugs with guns dragging moms away in front of their screaming children. Trump’s government must be destroyed and his accomplices must rot in prison

Genuinely kind of weird to see the same people who tell us that the most common sentiment out of their normie lib relatives is "I want vengeance" saying that the Dem base might end up being squeamish about the realities of stove touching

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

"Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it's highly likely because they're given Tylenol. None of this is positive..."

I don’t usually cover breaking news, but this story is truly wild.

A pastor in central PA brought an AR-15 to church and pointed it at people during his sermon. Gun safety experts and internet commentators are, predictably, not happy!

In a move experts called a serious safety violation, he pointed the unloaded weapon at churchgoers, while asking for a 'violent action of faith.'

it's so funny (in a cosmic way) how easily propagandized the GOP electorate is. just decide $issue needs to be the zeitgeist, get on the teevee, and they'll fucking dance for you
johnpfaff.bsky.social
This holds true for thinking "is crime a serious issue." Also interesting to note that it persists for "crime near you"--GOPers are apparently now afraid of even their shadows, but Dems are more grounded on this issue.

That gives Dem pols more room to push back against the narrative.
