putting one foot in front of the other is the best I can do right now
Oh my god, right? I had forgotten about him and showed the movie to my kids and as soon as he appeared I was all oh shit here we go.

My kids were as freaked as I was; I know because of how many drawings they did of his comeuppance when the stolen kids trap him in a net.

I'm so glad you are okay, and so admiring of your courage and dignity.

It was a syringe filled with an amber-colored fluid, smelled very strongly according to the folks around her who also got splashed

I do buy only used devices, which feels like a tiny step away from handing money straight to Apple.

Like these are guys who can look at the word 'consulado' and figure out it means 'consulate'/know what a consulate even is/aren't following the secret DHS ruling that they're allowed to do whatever they want?

I think they go 'that's Spanish & we have a quota to fill, let's do it'
January 28, 2026 at 1:42 AM
In Spanish, which is probably why they wanted to break in

Hey Chicago Tribune: asking me to be happy about the vice president's wife being pregnant when I'm reading (elsewhere, OBVIOUSLY) about the pregnant people swept up by ICE who can't see doctors because DHS stopped paying for medical care for detained people back in October?

'echo'

Echoes are a lifeless phenomenon, a function of how sound waves behave in space; *this* is a deliberate choice by the white supremacist humans currently running our government.

NYT still doing all they can to avoid assigning accountability to folks in power.

tryin to get us to watch her stupid movie

I know it's frivolous to care about her having her fee-fees hurt when her movie flops, but I'll take my joy where I can get it these days

Bezos' grotesque pandering revealed by his funding this trash, also satisfying

Absolutely! The man just cannot read the room; it's pathetic

Hang in there!

The first complete sentence I learned in Japanese was 'Does this train stop at Urayasu Station?' because I kept getting on express and semi-express trains that zipped past my stop. Once my Japanese got better I could pick out the info from the announcement (kakueki/kaisoku ) but it took a while.

I will never be happy for anything good happening to these ghouls. The things JD has said about the kind of people I love? He can fuck off straight to hell. Don't know anything about Usha except she has bad taste in husbands.
January 27, 2026 at 6:07 AM
Oh no, he's an awful dude, this is very much a 'the-enemy-of-my-enemy-is-not-necessarily-my-friend' type situation

The Never-ending Battle Over Martins Beach Explained | KQED
The conflict between the state of California and a Silicon Valley billionaire over a beach on the San Mateo County coast is at an important juncture.

My darling partner taught our kids to say 'shut yer piehole' which I was not actually happy about
January 27, 2026 at 5:53 AM
Definitely not the transphobia then, or the fact that the books just aren't that good? Hmm.
January 27, 2026 at 2:18 AM
No no this is not on you this is on him!

You have tremendous value, you are precious and irreplaceable and needed in the world.
January 27, 2026 at 12:13 AM
Entirely not cool, I am so sorry he is doing this. As a parent of a trans kid, I am heartbroken on your behalf and utterly baffled/enraged/saddened by parents who behave this way.
January 27, 2026 at 12:12 AM
Hurrah for you! Let's all make a bsky party big enough to wipe away the neglect and elevate the respect!

Party on, fabulous graphic novel queen!

Haven't shopped at Target since last year, don't go to Home Depot anymore, looked up all the various other names Hilton goes by to make sure I don't stay in any of their properties in the future.

I've got family members who still won't buy from German companies because of WWII.
January 26, 2026 at 8:53 PM
Not gonna shop at any business with a sign for this non-profit in the window, like how I stopped patronizing Magnani Meats and Raxakoul Coffee on Hopkins Street over their anti-bike-lane position.
January 26, 2026 at 5:49 PM
So, he's saying, factually correct, then? What an ass.
January 26, 2026 at 5:37 PM
When I was on my kids' school's PTA: one dad for every 20 or so moms. In the SF Bay Area, bastion of lefty excellence

(sarcasm; we're currently mostly ICE-free because our tech overlords told Miller 'hands off our H1-B engineers if you want that sweet sweet surveillance to continue')
January 26, 2026 at 4:46 PM
Also no time to spend denigrating the folks who were right in 2017 by calling them 'hysterical pussy-hat wearers'

If you've figured out that you were wrong, and you want to get involved in the fight, don't start by insulting the people you're going to be working with.
