The league having one general playing style really hurts too because you used to be able to praise the tough gritty play in the east and the open high scoring style in the west and the clash of styles used to be interesting to watch. Everybody just shoots threes now.

It feels like them leaving NBC altered the landscape because nobody seemed to match the coverage and storytelling NBC provided. Once they went to ESPN/ABC, the NBA started to rely on star power over everything which I think changed how people viewed the league.
