I have a couple of vintage jackets to fix up. The tan one is getting new buttons and the peach one a few flower patches to cover up stains and holes.

I only had to take it apart four times. Not perfect, but it's the most complex quilt block I've made so far, so I'm pretty happy with it.

I'm visiting family so I haven't been able to quilt this week, but I did find two amazing books at a used bookstore.
Two books. The one on the left is titled The Quilts of Tennessee. The cover shows an antique quilt in an original design of four pointed stars. The book on the right is titled Missouri Heritage Quilts. The cover is light blue and has an image of an antique tumbling blocks quilt cut in the shape of Missouri. The tree is on a white background surrounded by orange and white flying geese blocks. The maker of the quilt is listed as Mother of Miss Sally Bohannon, Greenville, Greene County (Tennessee), circa 1850. A second page from The Quilts of Tennessee. This page shows a full image of a quilt in an unnamed style along with a picture of the quilt maker and her husband. The picture's caption says, "Quiltmaker and husband, Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Walker of Sweetwater Valley." The people in the picture are dressed in late 19th century clothing. They are an older white man and woman. The quilt is in white, dark blue, and red-orange. The design is a little bit like a double wedding ring quilt but the rings, which have a blue center surrounded by orange, don't touch. There are small triangular "teeth" in blue pointing out from each ring. There is a criss cross design overlapping each ring, and each line of this also has blue "teeth" pointing out. At the center of each crossing point, there is an orange flower design. All of this is on a background of white. A page from Missouri Heritage Quilts. There is a full image of a quilt with the quilt style, Compass and Pomegrante (sic), written below the picture. The quilt is alternating square blocks turned on end. Half of the blocks are dark blue and the other half have a design. The design has a compass center with appliqued pomegranate fruits on each of the four corners. The pomegranates are all in reds and pinks. The compasses are in greens, reds, and pinks. The facing page (not pictured) says that rhe quilt was made by the Fox family in the 1860s.

You know when you realize you're too close to the top of the fabric, so you put the project down for five years and then pick it up again and decide to risk it? With the way this week has been, me too.
