Minimal-dose RT, how low can we go? Everyone’s time poor, long term adherence is hard (10-30%), could a super low dose of strength training yield positive strength and power outcomes in older individuals?

Interested to hear how little people prescribe.

Weight gain, metabolic disturbances and antipsychotic medication. A CPD delivered to our Physiotherapy cohort - the question being; how does your understanding of chronic disease influence acute care?

Would exercise professionals working in chronic disease management benefit from counselling and psychotherapy principles?

New and improved NICE principles of car for obesity. Quite similar to the 7 pillars of trauma informed care. What do you think?

Barriers for those experiencing metabolic side effects of anti-psychotic medication in secure services. Some scary similarities to the community and things that stand out:
1. Obesogenic environments
2. Low self efficacy & health literacy

What barriers do you identify with in clinical practice?

Are we still blaming the people we work with for their obesity? Is obesity the issue in physical health?

An easy answer for many pathologies and presentations - ‘reducing weight will help’.

Is this the right message and how does it feel to have your narrative challenged with papers like this?

Carrying on from my last post regarding pain, function, structures and humans. A great example of even more ‘Dims & Sims’ that you might hear or see. The question is, are you listening?

One of my favourite diagrams from Peter O’Sullivan’s work. How easy would our job be if a single structure was contributing to someone’s pain and function?

A useful tool to remind ourselves, students or mentees, that we work with humans. Check it out below.

Guidelines are exactly that. The active ingredients that improve the people we work with are often misunderstood. Love this paper, and many others that challenge our idea of best practice.

Exercise and eating disorders

Overwhelming and complex. Often misunderstood and treated with a degree of rigidness. A nice question as an exercise professional:

‘what’s the function of exercise today?’
