how'd we do last year? pretty good, i'd say, even if this is nowhere near a "winning" board. feeling good about it!
if i had just made a list of like 5 resolutions, i would've ended up only doing maybe 1 or 2 and felt shitty.

just got back from this with the bear - another park chan-wook BANGER.
surprised to learn that this was an adaptation, but park and his cowriters definitely leave their imprint.
the whole thing is solid, but there's one scene in particular that floored me. i was legit HOWLING in the theater.

it's a weird choice! at least eh art that i think works better with this design has more poses where the figure is on their "tiptoes" (i.e. hooves) to give the impression of digitigrade limb posture - like the art you pointed out, or rhys the exiled, or safehold elite

reminds me of that old "how different people draw men" post by humon from deviantart waaaay back in the day
which, like, is not really accurate and is missing a lot (i'm pretty sure there are nightwing covers out there drawn by women), but this picture is still seared in my brain since i was a teen

like, there's a bakery called "gregory's" that uses eta to represent both the "e" and "y" parts of that name?
there's a store called "ΣΚΛΑΒΕΝΙΤΗΣ" which is fine except that on their own trucks, they use the english "i" for both iota and eta??
and upsilon can be both "u" AND "y" in the same word???

i ended up making this fucking monstrosity my signature cocktail at the wedding, and it was everything i hoped for:
the bartenders were wondering aloud "why is he having us make this", and the people who ordered it did so while saying "i'm not a coward"

i had the same revelation when i started shaving my head - "now i get to wear hats" and also "now i HAVE TO wear hats" lol
early on i was big into pub caps/flat caps, but if you wanna cover your ears, get a neat beanie (without too much room on top)

i guess my main point of comparison is SILENT HILL HOMECOMING, where this early scene from the first section of the game essentially reveals half of the "twist" that the game only confirms for you immediately before the final boss fight.

i guess my main point of comparison is SILENT HILL HOMECOMING, where this early scene from the first section of the game essentially reveals half of the "twist" that the game only confirms for you immediately before the final boss fight.

one thing i've been enjoying about SILENT HILL F is that it doesn't treat the metaphorical nature of its horrors as a late-game reveal.
for me, at least, this helps dissuade me from cynically trying to guess what the "twist" is (as much), and lets me get more invested in the drama of the story.

as much as i adore silent hill's trademark rust-and-wire-and-orange-and-blood aesthetic, and masahiro ito's inspired monster design ethos from SH2, i am really stoked by how different SHf looks, while still feeling "silent-hill-y".

this fact about theropod wrists is well-known to dedicated paleoartists, but not really known outside of dino fans.
so when i saw Chase Stone's drawing of a dragon whose forelimbs had palms facing inwards, looking like they COULDN'T pronate (like a theropod!), i just KNEW the guy drew dinos a lot 😍
