Also similar to what happened with light bulbs.
Before, we got those expensive neon based "energy saving" lamps that saved ~75% and felt like the room got colder and darker when turned on.
As soon as regulations set in, we got cheaper and really efficient LED lights that can also have warmer colors

The paper for this was forwarded to wording (i.e. design approved) on Friday.
Practically, that means that implementations might provide it as soon as optional<T&> lands, but you need to opt in to extensions

A hard drive towards “efficiency” without lots of feedback and input from the “people on the ground” will give a high risk of impacting something critical. Which we have seen already, when they suddenly recall people they have fired. But those are just the things that are visible short term.
Companies don’t like slacks because it cuts at the bottom line. It’s fine for companies to fail - there is a functioning state to back it up. A failed state however…
