Business intelligence analyst and database specialist. Science is my first love, but I also enjoy SF, Fantasy & TTRPG's He/Him. Originally Irish but I’m an Aussie now.
I'm laughing a bit as I had Lasik and had perfect vision for like 5 years before I had to start wearing glasses again. Sometimes our bodies just won't cooperate!

I also think it is naked greed overriding common sense.

This is that firehose of falsehoods concept but for illegality where so many illegal/immoral things are performed at once out in the open that people can no longer focus on them to actually take them to task.

I knew a guy 30 years ago who wanted in on a money tree scam. He knew it was a scam, he knew that the people he recruited would be fleeced, but he gambled on being in on it early enough that he would get a payout and take off. These people aren't stupid, they just hope to cash out before it fails.

To write this newsletter, and to back up future reporting, I created my own model for data center costs, one I validated with multiple experts and analysts. AI data centers are awful businesses, and I'm very worried about what happens next.

I don't think there are any adults in charge who care to try and validate any of this nonsense. It seems to just be carnival barkers and hucksters flashing promises to people willing to swallow any lie as long as it gets them shares in it.

Mastodon? They were always scolding users on post etiquette there. It got a little frustrating until I had access to BlueSky.

As long as you aren't buying chicken AND juice, or avocado AND toast I think you should be fine.

I’m enjoying it. I like the exploration of a peacenik Klingon, and the world according to a three month old photonic being.

Its definitely sad for the fisherman to get caught out like that. We humans generally get an easy time of it, but occasionally nature reminds us we aren't the biggest or meanest things out there on our own.

Need a version of this to mean "Out of the frying pan into the fire."

"Out of the elephants path into the crocodile"?

That makes way more sense for the shows narrative.

(Not that I watched it, just saw all the posts whizzing around about it)

Some of them might be media reporting on the huge crowds of protestors? Do the media still do that these days, though? Report on actual events?

Ah a figure skating Jesus would be quite a sight with that flowing hair and long robes.
