Lastly, for the month of December I played Skyrim. "What???", I hear you ask. It's true, I had never played Skyrim before, and it was actually the game I had given myself for the month. After way too many hours playing it, I finally understand how it's still relevant, so many years later.

For the month of November, I played Hades. I knew this game had a very large audience with very favourable opinions, but that was the extent of what I knew. When I booted it up the first time, unsure of what to expect, the game just threw me right into the gameplay and I kinda loved it.

For the month of October, I played Pokemon: Arceus. This game was suggested to me by my partner, knowing full well that I haven't really ever been interested in playing the Pokemon series. They just have never appealed to my core desires in gameplay. She knew it was a risky suggestion.

For the month of September, I played through Xenosaga 2. I am a huge fan of the Xenoblade series, and had played through Xenogears and Xenosaga 1 many, many years ago, so this was a foregone conclusion. I went into the game expecting some jank and rough edges, and boy did it deliver.

For the month of August, I played Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne. To give a bit of context for what I'm about to say about this game, I hadn't played an SMT game before (though I had played Tokyo Mirage Sessions twice in the past several years). As well, a friend insisted I play on "Hard".

For the month of July, I played Pyre, and I must confess... I did not give this game the due diligence it deserved. It came out around the same time as FFXIV: Dawntrail, and that really did not do any favours for the amount of time I was able to invest in playing Pyre.

In the month of June, I played Octopath Traveler 2. I hadn't played the first game, though I had been wanting to (despite the slew of complaints I'd heard about it). I was a bit hesitant about whether I was going to like this one or not, but was pleasantly surprised.

For the month of May, I played Sea of Stars. This game came highly recommended by the friend that suggested I play it, and I see why. This has to have been one of the most ambitious indie RPGs I've played, and they did so well with it. This is everything that a modern 90s JRPG should be.

For the month of April, I played Radiata Stories. This is a (classic?) PS2 game from a couple decades ago, and I had been wanting to play it again for a long while (previously, I had only invested a couple hours in it). Upfront, I just need to point out the amazing comedic writing in this game.

For the month of March, I played The Witcher 3. Having played through the awfully janky Witcher 1 years back, and The Witcher 2 not as long ago, I was interested to see what this game offered (esp. since I was well aware of its reputation). Unfortunately, I did have some technical issues at first.

For the month of February, I played Persona 4 Golden. I'd never really been interested in trying the Persona series, but my friend absolutely insisted, so I gave it a shot.
I must confess, this might have been one of the best games I played all year. I think I might be a Persona fan.

For the month of January, I played Triangle Strategy. It was a game I'd been interested in starting up for awhile, so I was pretty excited to give it a go. After 2.5 playthroughs, suffice it to say that I found the game quite enjoyable. The game was surprisingly challenging, but in a good way.
