Asteroid 2024 YR4 had reached a 3.1% likelihood of impact but further data has rendered it negligible

So Elon definitely just went to Trump and was like, “I’ll use computers to make the government good” and Trump thought “Sure, NERDS = COMPUTERS” and went back to imagining staging an all-white cast of Cats at the Kennedy Center

Didn't anticipate how timely Woody Guthrie's words would feel when I pitched my book project: "Fascism would like for you to weep and hang your head and cry and get so mixed up in your thinking that you'd walk into one of its own churches looking for some kind of a personal salvation."

Not their dog, their social security.
Sen. John Kennedy on Fox News: "He's delegated that authority to Elon Musk. A lot of my Democratic colleagues and most of the members of the tofu crowd are very upset and screaming like Musk stole their dog or something."

A reminder that on this site folks may be aware that Trump got basically nothing new or substantive from Mexico or Canada but over on the other place, and out in parts of the real world, the GOP are successfully and ruthlessly spinning these as wins. They are messaging masters, Dems aren’t. Sorry 🤷🏽‍♂️

look I’m no messaging expert but it seems like the American people might be interested to know that Donald Trump just gave our social security numbers to a teen called BigBalls
Contrary to some info I've seen, 19-yr-old Doge staffer "BigBalls" Edward Coristine did not delete his X account, it's just renamed and is private.

Wired reported that govt tech workers had to defend their work to the Neuralink intern in an Office Space-esque scene.

Imagine thinking activists have any control over the democrats. Recruit a bunch of formerly right-leaning centrists who get radicalized after a back injury and tell me how you’re going to give me healthcare. Now pay me 30k Dr this groundbreaking advice.

Imagine being this useless
Trump's been purging and intimidating USAID employees.

Now there’s a rumor he'll dissolve USAID as an independent agency.

It was created by JFK and established in law to further our national security and spread hope.

This'd be illegal and against our national interests.

The best scenario is the courts quickly shoot down much of what the administration has done. The medium scenario is the administration declares victory and stops pursuing their worst ideas upon understanding how bad the impact will be. The less good scenario is we are already in a dictatorship.

Do Not Comply In Advance: bossy, already a cliche, implies permission to comply later

Fuck You, Make Me: leads by example, directs yelling at opposition instead of allies, easy to chant at a protest or put on a banner

And yet they seem to be complying? When they could simply not?
they are stealing data from the american people and depriving us of the transparency that we are entitled to by law. none of this is legal and not a single federal employee has any reason to comply.

Extra demoralizing for Dems not even pretending to be an opposition party this time around. No federal grants? Mass firings at agencies? That’s apparently fine
