Putting fairness at the heart of public debate and policymaking in the UK.

Today, alongside 60+ organisations, we’ve welcomed progress on the Bill to remove the two-child limit: cpag.org.uk/news/stateme...

The policy was always unfair, arbitrarily penalising children in bigger families.

Progress on its removal is a welcome step for families across the UK.

Government policy sometimes prioritises the wishes of certain groups over the public interest. This is partly driven by unfair influence on decision-making. But what other factors are at play? www.faircomment.co.uk/p/the-power-...

📈New research from the @highpaycentre.bsky.social shows that FTSE 100 CEOs earn the median full-time worker’s annual salary in just over two days.

Sensible measures such as worker representation on boards should be advanced without delay.

Yesterday’s Treasury Committee questions, including from @bobbywdean.bsky.social and John Glen MP, highlight important concerns about whether the decision to freeze income tax rates was truly fair.

📢 Our new report sets out a clear message: a fairer economy demands real fiscal powers for local places.

The Budget's move to devolve tourism-levy powers was welcome, but it's a small down-payment on the long-term vision we need.

Today's publication of the Child Poverty Strategy marks a landmark moment in building a fairer society.

The measures announced today will help arrest the deep unfairness of children growing up locked out of opportunity, while their families struggle to afford the basics. 🧵

📌 Our Budget verdict: Ending the unfair two-child limit on Universal Credit is welcome, but the overall package is a missed opportunity. 🧵

The decision to lift the two-child limit on Universal Credit is the fair choice.

The limit introduced random & unjustifiable unfairness between children in larger families born before and after the policy change.

Thanks to Jane Dodds MS for citing our research in a Senedd debate on wealth taxation yesterday 👇

📉The evidence is clear- extreme wealth inequality harms economic growth & undermines living standards.

🤝Next week’s Budget is a chance to address that inequality and build a fairer society for all.

We’re at Parliament today to support @patmillsuk.bsky.social & the call to tax wealth more than work in next week’s Budget 👇

Quick reaction to the PM's conference speech (🧵)

"Wealth creation is hoarded by just a few communities", the PM said in his conference speech today. Another way of putting this is that too much wealth is extracted from our economy, rather than genuinely being created in the first place.

Quick Rachel Reeves conference speech 🧵:
"I believe in a Britain founded on contribution, where we do our duty for each other, and where hard work is matched by fair reward. I believe in a Britain based on opportunity, where ordinary kids can flourish, unhindered by their background.”

Too many people feel that our economy is rigged against them- that no matter how hard they work or what contribution they make, they can't get by.

Our new report examines how this is fuelling the rise of populist politics- and what we can do about it.

The two-child limit is fundamentally unfair.

It arbitrarily discriminates against children in larger families, leading to unfair opportunities and outcomes.

Scrapping it would be a cost-effective way to cut poverty.
