That's the math in 2025 dollars...the fine goes up annually so the reward for using us as just a pit stop should increase. Victoria is worth so much to cruise lines and yet all we get are crumbs. And pollution, noise, garbage. Residents get the impacts, industry reaps the rewards.

It's a cruise ship-free day in Victoria. Cruise-free days are essential for a community to recover from noise, traffic, and pollution of unrestricted cruise tourism. From May 1 - Sept 30, Victoria only had 12 cruise-free days. In contrast, we had almost 50 three-and-four-ship days. #CruiseImpacts

Today Victoria hosts Coral Princess, and tonight for the 25th straight week, Encore, making a late regulatory stop that this year will save its cruise line USD $103 million in fines avoided. Reminder: 82% of cruise ship calls to Victoria in 2025 are to avoid US fines.

In tonight's Victoria Cruise Ship Calls After Dark, we host Bliss and Eurodam for their weekly required regulatory calls. They save $millions, passengers see, well, not much. Locals get the pollution and noise. But as long as the cruise industry is happy, Victoria doesn't care. #CruiseImpacts

Hey, Victoria, it's a cruise-ship-free day today. Weather is iffy but the air is clear, so enjoy. Thurs-Sun is the last weekend with daily ships, then a ship now and then until it's over on Oct 18. Final ship? Norwegian from Alaska, of course. CEO credited climate change for extending cruise season.

Cruise ship Norwegian Joy is here. Why do we accept this? The toxic emissions are a health risk to residents, especially in Esquimalt & James Bay. Today Victoria hosts Norwegian Joy. The Alaska season winds down so no more 3-ship days scheduled. But we typically get an unscheduled call, or an unexpected ship in wet dock. Most remaining calls arrive after dark, so be on the lookout for confused pax wondering what there is to see.

Today, on a wet and gloomy Monday, Victoria hosts Nieuw Amsterdam, because nothing says 'guess Alaska cruise season is over' like a repositioning cruise where the ship flees south for the winter. Leaving us here to enjoy winter and early spring with our clean air and such. Cool.

Why yes, Victoria, it IS a 4-cruise-ship day today. Royal, Joy, and Venture all arrived by 8am, so enjoy the tasty tang of pollution all day as you (try to) enjoy the waterfront. Quantum arrives this afternoon. Where will we put them all? Anyway, hang in there - the season is over in 21 days.

It's a 3-ship day in Victoria, for a change: Anthem, Spirit, Quest. From today-Sunday, on this first weekend of fall, we'll have 11 cruise ships. 8 of them are regulatory stops on the Alaska run. Because nothing says fall like a cold, rainy Alaska cruise so cruise lines can squeeze out more money.

Hey Victoria, it's a rare cruise-free day today. Assuming no stealth arrivals late tonight to disturb our sleep and foul the air, that is. Anyway, downtown is stuffed with non-cruise tourists, the air is fresh and the day lovely, so enjoy.
