Sega Dreamcast developer on a quest to correct the timeline of video gaming history. Working on the modern, open-source indie DC SDK and library OS, KallistiOS.
Funny story... this got posted in the Simulant Discord server, which is like Sega Dreamcast dev HQ... and I just assumed it was a DC tech demo... but noooope! CRAZY! Good work!

Oh, I agree. I own and played the 3DS version as well.

Lmao I’m halfway playing. This game looked INCREDIBLE when it came out, and the N64 was the most impressive 5th gen console graphically, imho.

Because it’s running at 480p and doesn’t look like blurry shit…

I thought they were just about done?

I wasn't even sure, tbh. Thanks for that!

Nope, neither DC nor PS2 had special reflection HW, so yes, double poly count.

And nah, I was expecting that question about the environment. It’s typically just cuz whatever model or mesh they ripped from the OG game (wasn’t done by esppiral), had some issues or glitches.

I’m actually abusing the SIMD instructions on the Sega Dreamcast to accelerate our memcpy, memmove, and memset similarly. lol

If you ever wanna try to take the plunge and give DC homebrew a try, this is the ultimate "getting started" guide that everyone in the community uses: dreamcast.wiki/Getting_Star....

Then join the "Simulant" Discord server (link at the bottom of the KallistiOS GitHub repo), it's DCdev central.

Actually, with KallistiOS, it's suuuuper easy. We support all of standard C and C++, up to 23 and 26, we support a bunch of POSIX APIs, SDL, OpenGL, raylib... you can kind of treat it like a slow PC. lol.

It’s a tool being made by my good friend and team mate who led us on the GTA3/VC team for DC. He goes by skmp.

He took some of the core from his DC emulator and has been reverse engineering some of the disassembled official pipeline simulator tools from hitachi/renesas: sh4-sim.dreamcast.wiki
