Happy Hanukkah to my friends who celebrate. This is not a political post, so please refrain from making it one.

As Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis stated in 1933; “We can have democracy in this country or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of the few, but we cannot have both.”

Today, at a time of unprecedented income & wealth inequality, his words ring truer than ever.

To paraphrase the Greek statesman, Pericles:

"You may not be interested in politics, but politics may be interested in you."

Young American men volunteer for military service, knowing they may have to sacrifice their lives for their country.
But they didn't volunteer to sacrifice their futures to protect the President or Secretary of Defense from being convicted of crimes.
That's not the service for which we thank them.
