I don't know who wrote this quote but it reads like the reviewer was simultaneously taking a swipe at both JK Rowling and Enid Blyton, which I'm totally here for #Reading

The table legs are a bit wonky, there's also how the gaps between the boards randomly fade out halfway across the porch. Wouldn't have noticed these things at a glance though if I was not looking for them

I'm curious whether this novel being commissioned resulted from a meeting with Justin Richards and the show staff that was like "we need to have at least one book be set on the Powell Estate," given it was clearly a conscious decision when reviving #DoctorWho to focus more on the domestic side

Anyone know of any other good VORs they would recommend?

People go on about the new voice actors in Rick and Morty sounding different, but I honestly believe if I didn't know about the new VAs I would never have even noticed

Ponies who've never met a unicorn before, whose entire perception of what a unicorn is comes from fearmongering and nothing else, and so this beautiful wholesome person is barred from their society. It hits differently when you are an adult and you see this happening to your friends in real life.
fantasybookworm42.bsky.social
The Netflix MLP movie is not flawless but I maintain this specific moment of Izzy standing there being totally wholesome doing no harm to anyone while the other ponies are charging around in frenzied panic because she's a unicorn is crushingly relevant right now, almost depressingly so #MyLittlePony

I think the latest Christopher Eccleston Big Finish story is probably my favourite Ninth Doctor story alongside 'Girl, Deconstructed'. I think there's something about the more creepy types of Doctor Who stories that amplify Nine's often forgotten about warmth that makes him special.

Are we crapping on Kemi Badenoch, because given her mask-off transphobia, I'm quite happy to do that
fantasybookworm42.bsky.social
Not that that would make their identity any less valid of course, but the term "biological" is so misleading
fantasybookworm42.bsky.social
Ugh reading "transgender women and biological women" in the preview. I really think some of the people who write these things perceive trans women as all having transitioned yesterday and that transition involved them putting on a bit of makeup and a dress.

The link seems to be broken when I tried it but I found the review. Personally it's my favourite of the Torchwood books I've read

Still waiting for any of the newspapers to report on Rowling denying Nazi crimes

I've chekced the News Letter, Belfast Telegraph, Telegraph and now the Mail and every paper so far has had this stupid fucking story
How Emma’s ignorant words poured petrol on the f lames of my trans storm torment, by JK Rowling

I enjoyed some of her stories, but definite wasted potential. With her acting talent we could have had a lot better. That's why I'm very keen to hear her Big Finish stuff

It says a lot about the psychology of DOCTOR WHO fans -- and how beloved the show itself is -- that the actors who’ve received the worst abuse when stars of the show, like Jodie Whittaker and Colin Baker, are still the greatest ambassadors for the character. Hate her all you want, she still loves 💙💙
Jodie Whittaker Says She “Wouldn’t Hesitate” To Return To ‘Doctor Who’: “It’s Absolute Joy”
After returning to her roots in the Season 15 finale of Doctor Who, Jodie Whittaker said she would happily return to play the Thirteenth Doctor again.

The 9th Doctor books feel uniquely integrated with the show when compared with the later NSAs to me, with "bad wolf" being mentioned in every book, The Monsters Inside being Rose's first visit to an alien planet and then that story actually getting referenced onscreen #DoctorWho

Wish we’d got the scene in ‘Frontier In Space’ where the Master tells the Daleks to keep out of sight til he gives them their cue.

“No, look, seriously, trust me, it’ll be so much cooler if we do it this way. Just let me go out first, have a bit of a chat, then you roll out. His face!”

“ERR. OK.”
Roger Delgado’s Master having a proper chuckle. A Dalek up on a rocky ridge.

Finished Arkspire by Jamie Littler. This story introduces an apparently utopian magical city that's actually not so benevolent beneath the surface. The illustrations are gorgeous and Juni might be the most audacious protagonist of any book I've read #BookSky 📚🪐

Kyle Theobald's review of Arkspire (Arkspire, #1)
5/5: "Do you know what I've learned after centuries of living? That there's no such thing as good and evil. The only difference is between those with power and those without." Firstly this book gets ...

As a story Flux is a bit all over the place, but it's never boring. It's interesting to imagine what the series might have been like if it were not made under such extraordinary circumstances with the reduced episode count
fantasybookworm42.bsky.social
Interesting you make the comparison with the alignment of the planets in The Stolen Earth. Personally the Blathereen's plan to teleport the entire Justicia system across space reminded me a bit of the Daleks wanting to pilot Earth like a spaceship in The Dalek Invasion of Earth. It's equally bonkers

The fact the most popular candidate people want to vote for in my country is someone who talks about sending people back to the Taliban is sickening. Feeling pretty depressed about this today. I can see the future and evil wins.

Well A Web of Air is from the Mortal Engines series, which is about traction cities, predatory cities that move about and "eat" each other for resources etc. And A Web of Air has nothing to do with traction cities and is instead about a boy who speaks to birds and is trying to build an aeroplane
