The weather is just wild. We went from 28 to 6 in basically 48 hours. No wonder the lambs didn't gain this week. Thankfully no damage from last night's storm.

We climb on roofs because snow will collapse buildings. So far, we're okay but a bunch of friends and acquaintances have lost barns over the weekend. Nobody is hurt that we're aware of but lots of damage. The snow took out our main tractor.

Moved some lambs around so we can prepare for March breeding. It's really weird having half our ewes open right now, it makes me feel so nervous.

Hey Weather Network, I know it's the holiday season but what is this?! I don't live at the North Pole and I definitely am not capable of managing -64 temperatures. Please be a typo!

I'll never understand the attraction of a designer purse/handbag when there's beautiful handmade options from local designers. This bag was more than you pay for a generic bag from the big box stores but at $100, it's very reasonable. It's well-made, functional and one of a kind.

Finally finished this book. It was fascinating, although the flow was a bit rough at times. And it was very American-focused when there's definitely more dairy history in Europe. Didn't know the first rotary parlor was built in 1939.

717 sheep later and we're all fumbling through the remaining chores. Fingers crossed they're all negative this time. It's also hard to explain to program administrators that we know biosecurity but that the 2 flocks are basically 1. At some point we'll just combine them for paperwork's stake.

Set up today to do nightmare prevention aka Maedi Visna testing. It's cold, it's wet and it's very necessary. We can do over 70 ewes per hour. MV is the worst and if you don't have it count yourself lucky.

Absolutely hate having to do this, we can't get insurance for this building but it's the only spot for the baler this winter. It's actually my biggest bill behind the mortgage. Farm insurance is such a monopoly in my region that some farms have no insurance at all. #agsky

I finally got to go to the largest Christkindl market in my region. It was so much fun! Came home with this beautiful landscape for my living room wall. I never got around to decorating this house when we bought it, I just add items as I fall in love with them.

This is what it looks like when you've had more droughts than not in your farming career and you grew up reading about #ausag having no feed. At this point, yeah, I hoard hay. This is probably 18 months worth of feed. We're losing 100 acres next year so every bale counts. #agsky

I ride for fun, and the pure joy of being around my horses. There's little better than wandering around on horseback on a gorgeous day. My farm was actually a horse farm before we bought it so I have some features I never thought I'd have like an outdoor arena and trails. #eqbsky

Anyone else get excited about the annual Milk calendar? I managed to get a copy at Metro when I was doing my monthly grocery shopping, they had copies at checkout. Should probably find out if we can get one for lamb, would be a good promotion.

I held this ram lamb back for a buyer, who then cancelled. So I sold him to another buyer on my list. Now the buyer has reappeared in my inbox. I only have 2 rams left. It's a bit late in the year to go ram shopping, the pickings are slim. I sold most of mine back in May.

Yes, my child is still wearing his Halloween costume because it's a warm outfit and I couldn't resell it so we'll use it as much as possible. Plus it makes people at the store smile when you walk in with a baby dino!
