We got one of these. It’s rather impressive.

You don’t have to handle everything alone 🫂 Building connection is one of the most protective factors for mental health, yet it’s often the first thing we let slip when times get tough. We withdraw, thinking we need to sort things out by ourselves first, or not wanting to “bother” anyone.

Feeling overwhelmed by worries? 😥 When worries take over, they can consume your whole day - popping up during meetings, keeping you awake at night, making it hard to focus on anything else. It’s exhausting carrying all that mental weight 😮‍💨

@bernardchickey.bsky.social has CLEARLY been listing to the Hillside Road Hoon morning and night, and upped his Hoon content this week

Mini-Hoon: Ganesh Nana on a failing 'strategy'. Just ahead of today's 50 basis point rate cut by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, I spoke to economist Ganesh Ahirao about the Government's fiscally-tight & failing approach to economic management. #nzpol thekaka.substack.com/p/mini-hoon-...

Feeling stuck with a problem? Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the problem itself - it’s knowing where to start. When everything feels tangled up, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or paralysed by indecision 🥴

Wellingtonians - Are you interested?

An hour of unlimited play on the machines at Ye Olde Pinball Shoppe before regular opening hours on a Sunday from 10-11 am. N95 or better masks to be worn at all times and there is an air purifier. $20/person and we need 25 people to make the event happen.
The graphic has a violet background and white text. The text reads: Wellingtonians are you interested? Pinball wizards aren't required, but a mask is. Dividing the text is a photograph of the interior of an empty pinball arcade. There are also small graphic images of an N95 mask, and Aotearoa Covid Action's logo.

sadly we have a LOT of high (6m+) trees, most of which we can't (or don't want to) cut down. Or even trim

Almost bought the 800sqm section next door to use as a solar farm, but.. well, its was $500k NZD, so no...

Stupidly I don’t call the insurance when outs mostly went down in 2023 storms. Wish I had rather than propping it up

Feeling stuck in a low mood? When you’re feeling down, everything can feel harder - even getting out of bed or doing simple tasks. It’s a cruel paradox: the things that might help us feel better are often the last things we feel like doing.

One of the most effective tools is activity scheduling.

Hrmmmm maybe I need to go get tested. Of that age and all that….

I expected “oh your hearing is fucked”. But no. It’s fine - with some tinatus.

I just don’t have time.

That said we just started rewatching Fringe. Which is better than I remembered (from 2008)

Nice. I presume you have a battery?

I WISH we could get solar. our roof slopes North (High) to South (low) with overhanging trees (well, shading). Otherwise it'd be on a few years ago :(

Gas is next to go (cooking + water). Tempted to maybe get a battery to just not ever pay peak.

Wind and solar don’t need to be 100% all the time. But sometimes they are.

Even the AWS manual method (elastic GPUs) feels pretty gank. It works but like AI research vrs training vrs using a model … I’m really only interested in doing the last one.

(The others interest me as much as CPUs. Hypothetically at most)
fastchicken.co.nz
I’ve tried a little locally but not at production scale. Plus our usage is 6am-10pm mostly so a Serverless model (bedrock) makes sense.

Built, as anything is, from available component and our code.

vrs just buying a complete product.

We didn’t invent Linux or typescript either 😜
fastchicken.co.nz
That would also be a waste of time and money. For no gain.

No. But we control the transcription, storage of audio and text, the (lack of) training on data we provide …

Exactly what we are finding at @tend.nz

Also with open notes the patient experience is much better (readable and understandable notes!).

And as ours is in-house we know EXACTLY where the data goes.

Take it away from the doctors (eg we ship a bug) and boy do they get grumpy quickly :)
