NYT: A man dedicated his life to shovelling children into the thresher-grinder chute of the Profits Machine. Yesterday he was murdered in cold blood. Instead of horror, people are reacting with glee and indifference. What happened to empathy? Is civility truly dead?

Currently researching for an article on epistemic injustice in surveillance capitalism. I have not found a concept that precisely captures the whole of the structural injustice involved. Interested in suggestions. My feeling is a lot of the concepts fit part of it, but none that adress both… 1/

Correct, and it is a major feature of current power structures. While still very much using violent means, they’ve also come to rely on cynical disaffection, ethics of self-care, etc. Hopecore, doomerism, etc are all still escapist controlled responses

escapism has become pathological in its extent for many. i don’t know what the cure is but i do know it is a profoundly disabling disease
