Delicious, finally some good fucking food!!!!

"We read for the flame. Not the heat of arousal (necessarily), but the way a story changes when two forces meet. Both things cannot maintain the same trajectory."

"And to tidy away always the messiness of life, to make it always palatable, that’s the most damning lie of all."

My new Genre Grapevine dives into the book club scams targeting authors. These scams now include creating fake Discord communities filled with AI slop and chatbots. Artificial intelligence circles every level of this scam like water down the toilet.

My first panel at @flightsoffoundry.bsky.social is coming up at 3pm EST - When Writing Isn't Your Day Job. Tips, tricks, and how to keep all your separate (or are they?) selves happy while you create.

If you've always wanted to dip a toe into TTRPGs but haven't had a chance, I couldn't think of a better first DM to have than @brandoncrilly.bsky.social (even if a carnivorous plant eats your character).
brandoncrilly.bsky.social
I'm also running a closed one-shot of one of my Tiny Frontiers adventures, Orchids with Appetite, on Sunday with a group of lucky* players!

*Debatable. Their characters might get eaten by carnivorous plants.

It's why we need a visibility day, everyone's like, man, you're freaking me out. Can you just tell me where you are?
faye-gabriel.bsky.social
I have SO many questions about it and I hope none of them are ever answered. The mystery makes it even better.
faye-gabriel.bsky.social
This #BiVisibilityDay, now more than ever, as a bisexual, it's my job to lurk ominously in the incongruous shadows of a completely white room. Might fuck around and Emerge later.
The cover of Newsweek magazine from July 17, 1995 depicting a tall light-skinned masculine person flanked by a light-skinned blonde femme person and a masculine person with tan skin and a dark brown beard. All three stare directly into the camera with grim expressions, their faces in half-shadow. The text reads: Bisexuality. Not gay. Not straight. A new sexual identity emerges.

The movies and books were a little different for me, but the emotional journey in this really resonates with the "not queer just a very interested ally" teen I was.

“Are you sure you’re not bisexual? America has just elected its very own fascist, and you tell yourself that the intensity of the Brokeback clip’s hold on you probably has to do with how melancholic and homesick you feel."
I Have To Tell You Something - Electric Literature
You think: I want to be like these characters. Then you think: I am like them, even though it’s a romance between two boys.

Okay--question for the Bluesky Brain Trust.

Romance novels. Good ones, ones that actually can help me be more romantic in my own life.

(Yes, I'm starting with @courtneymilan.com's works, but...many eyes, bugs shallow.)
faye-gabriel.bsky.social
Gotta also rec my BFF Kathryn Nolan - try Rival Radio for an enemies to lovers battle of dueling radio hosts arguing about whether love exists - or Bohemian, where a shy bookstore owner discovers his wild side with a supermodel who wishes she were a poet, set in Big Sur, CA.
faye-gabriel.bsky.social
A Gentleman Undone by Ceclia Grant - a math genius courtesan and a shell shocked Napoleonic war vet scheme to count cards in gambling hells...and fall for each other in the process. My #1 rec for romance novels!
