I listened to @alexpodyssey.bsky.social on Narcissus & Echo. Wonderful. I learned about Ovid from Enid Blyton’s ‘Tales from Long Ago’ This poem links with the story, I think. Thanks, Alex.

Unfortunately, his influence on Bluesky is virtually nonexistent compared to the influence he had on Twitter…it’s Catch 22.

I left X in January but find Bluesky too US oriented. Plus it keeps posting screenshots from X, anyway. @mrjamesob.bsky.social doesn’t get as much traction on here as he used to on Twitter. I found myself dipping back into TwitterX again last week to get British news 😕

I’m absolutely not discriminating against Trans people. They have the same rights to dignity & equality as any of us. But they are a distinct group, in the same way that women are a distinct group, in law. It’s the extremist TRAs who showed a lack of respect to women during the protest.

Roma. And watch Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn & Gregory Peck to see how special it is, if you have time.

This literally just dropped from @sonia-sodha.bsky.social so perhaps my initial reaction to The Guardian was early morning grumpiness. It perfectly sums up our frustrations . www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
The supreme court has carefully ringfenced protections for women. That’s all we wanted | Sonia Sodha
Last week’s ruling clarified the legal safeguards of the Equality Act. However, it was a travesty that the battle needed to be fought at all

Shelagh covers all this really fairly, I know. But you’re a hero to so many; a thoughtful, progressive male who skewers falsehoods. You would be a huge influence on perceptions, to focus the debate on women’s rights *in parallel* with transgender rights. Women need allies too. Allies like you.

Yet on other media I see placards & posts saying the most vile, hateful, violent things against women who have stood up for other women. It’s male violence against women in plain sight. Please look. It’s really important to your listeners who hate Trump, Brexit, fascism etc and who crave honesty.

Women like me absolutely support the rights of everyone, as the SC ruled. But that doesn’t seem to be enough in some quarters, does it? I know that the right wing have captured this but it’s a women’s issue. Are we being represented? See today’s @theguardian.com - all focused on trans not women.

Morning James! Please consider discussing the Trans-rights protest to ask questions about its violently misogynistic placards, urination in public, defacing of Millicent Fawcett statue etc. Upsetting to moderate/lefty women like me. If you’re back at @lbc on Tuesday I would love to call in.

He blocked me on Twitter. I blocked him on here. What’s occurring?

I suggest that the Trans community campaign for safe transgender spaces. That way we can all have dignity and safety, and live life free from fear and intimidation. However, I fear that’s not going to be enough for some.

Having experienced discrimination, abuse, violence and harassment from men because I am a woman, I do not wish anyone to experience such behaviour, be they women, trans women, trans men or men.
April 18, 2025 at 7:58 PM
Of course Trans people exist. We respect them. But biological facts exist too. Women are real people too. We have suffered real abuse, vilification, fear, and denial of our sex-based human rights – that’s why the case was brought in the first place.

It does make a difference. It skews the crime statistics. Male violence or abuse is recorded as female violence or abuse. Facts matter.

Hello John. I just read your piece about losing Herbert Hound. I’m in tears, flooded with empathy & understanding. Ive been there recently. Losing a beloved pet is so difficult, and a house without him is not quite home. Much love xx
