i think in order to fully re-normalize physical media and personal websites we need to drop this nostalgia shit. we need to stop treating this shit like it's a throwback, and start treating it like a wise choice in a world where not owning your media and online presence is constantly fucking us over

the subtle horror of realizing that time is moving on, and what you held dear is impermanent enough that it will just disappear while you're not looking. maybe this is why so many of us cling to the familar, the reliable. maybe younger me was right to mourn the passing of windows xp.

in real life, most shapes are convex, curving toward the exterior. shapes that *look* concave are often two convex shapes meeting. using convex lines makes a drawing look volumetric. simplifying into a mixture of convex and concave makes it look more flat/graphic.
