Argh! As someone who does a lot of geographical research, I was dismayed to see that Google has mislabeled the Gulf of Mexico. If you are someone who wants to restore the proper name, we should en masse file error reports for Google Maps. Here's the link: support.google.com/legal/troubl...

As an eternal optimist, I found this song by Maggie Roche and Suzzy Roche inspiring. Do good, even in the darkest of times. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggKn...

Made bread today for the UU church bread/thanksgiving celebration. Sourdough. Just flour, water and salt. Baking bread is meditative. Reminds me that amazing things can come from the simplest ingredients.

This morning, I met up with three nearby roadside enthusiasts - (L to R) Larry Cultrera, Steve Repucci, me, and Jeremy Ebersole. We had a fine breakfast at Tim's Diner in Leominster MA. Photo by Larry.

The next time I'm in Denver, I want to spend time visiting scenes from Jack Kerouac's On the Road Denver days. One place I want to visit is the apartment owned by the parents of Kerouac friend (and later architect) Ed White. The apartment was a landmark in OtR. maps.app.goo.gl/Wtcp6Jb8BG7D...

I spent part of my childhood in Denver. 11 years earlier, Jack Kerouac lived in this house about 1.5 miles away. 2nd photo is a former bar that Kerouac frequented.

On my way home, I stopped in Harrisburg PA. I took these photos of the scene where Jack Kerouac had the starvation-fueled hallucinations about the Ghost of the Susquehanna (On the Road, Part 1, Chapter 14). Here are the railroad underpass and jazz club he wrote about.

At the beginning of November I returned from a recent road trip. I spent 5 days filming the Route 40 documentary in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. This is Doug filming me in Brazil, IN (he likes to get shots of me taking pictures).
