For the new follower, welcome. I appreciate all of you.

1) the substack will always be free and never behind a paywall

2) the paid subscribers get access to our discord community, which I don't like to advertise in the other place, but I will here. It's the best Pelicans community online.

There's a good argument that even elite shooting makes it barely neutral
fearthebrown.bsky.social
For sure. But even those exceptions - the market has always produced similar players at sub MLE levels. Which is a far better and safer productivity bet than the rookie scale guy.

THJ- minimum signing this year
Gary Trent - minimum
Beasley himself bounced around cheaply after his 2nd deal
I would say that there are exceptions if you're able to do it on movement or with a heavy contest at the Duncan Robinson/Malik Beasley end of the spectrum, but even those guys had some serious years of the wilderness. The rub with Hawkins specifically is that he hasn't even hit the shots.

The Lakers got Jake LaRavia and Marcus Smart for $6M and $5M respectively. Both are better players than Dalton.

The Pels have Saddiq Bey for $6.4M next season where Hawk is slated to make $7M
fearthebrown.bsky.social
Guys who are billed as shooters but struggle to contribute everywhere else are not impactful NBA players. Go look at everyone this summer who was singed $7M or less and decide if young players should be held onto due to potential despite never showing any in key areas.

Yes Dalton Knecht is a negative asset, just as Jordan Hawkins is.

Pelicans have waived Garrison Brooks and Jalen McDaniels

Jose Alvarado down with what looks like knee to knee contact

Saddiq Bey has 11 points in just under 9 minutes. He's hit 3 threes.

There will be nights where he catches fire and unlocks a lot for the Pels

(Zion introduced last) 😂

Jeremiah Fears will make his first start tonight along side Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey, Zion Williamson and Kevon Looney

I'm in the paper today discussing why deploying the national guard to New Orleans is an unnecessary step that will hurt local businesses. I don't mention in the piece, but it will also be expensive and polling shows it's already very unpopular.

They should be adequate to good from a rebounding perspective which means this unit should have a shot at a great defense and a great offense

Honestly not a bad lineup at all.
