And just imagine the *gall* of it: telling the *military* let alone the world oh you know how you love hierarchy? Well guess what, you know what's WAY better, something that's closer to cooperative anarchy, where there's a lot of cooperation lots of error-prone little guys

AND HE WAS RIGHT

>inb4 it has small-world fallbacks, relays aren't required

ok, but then you completely lose interaction counts, feeds, mentions, comments and any semblance of reach. it's an improvement on ActivityPub that's worse than AP (unless there's a big, expensive central server in the middle).
bruh.

aside from the community, nostr feels like a good timeline version of atproto, where federation is actually happening and the community is actually building on it; the only thing it lacks are PDSes

I hope bluesky goes bankrupt and the community takes over so bad, holy shit

this is just a dedicated atproto hate account, istg
I only ever check in to see if the protocol design has improved, and only ever leave disappointed that it hasn't, leaving an angry post on my way out

god, I WANT this to be better, there's so many good ideas here
yet it's just fumble after fumble

I wouldn't bet on it, I'm afraid. the bridge is opt-in, she'd need to follow it for it to start working... and, in an amazing move from Meta, I don't think threads lets you follow fediverse accounts yet 🤣

ah shit, sorry, nevermind. I was misremembering - it prevents you not from migrating PDSes, but migrating where your DID document is hosted.

ignore this, then, that's a lot more okay than I thought, did:web is pretty alright, actually. :P

ik, but it prevents me from using migrations, one of the main selling points over fedi! at that point it's just kind of "expensive mastodon" imo

and ye, it's a bit early for that. but I think I'll wait till then, too many times has a for-profit has promised something, only to not deliver on it
