It immediately made me think of the wall in the St Paul mayor’s office that has photos of every mayor that has served since 1850 - 53 of them. I used to go there weekly for a meeting during Chris Coleman’s tenure. At that time, all the images were of white men. 2/x

Case in point: this morning I saw multiple people walking - and in this case, rolling - on the street under Hiawatha on Franklin since the sidewalk is fenced off.

It’s his day and he knows it. He has assumed position. #catsky #Halloween

A pet peeve in this article is that former Rep. Winkler falls into the trap of portraying urban people and their concerns as less genuine/practical/valid than those of the *real* folks of small town/rural America, in this case, Wisconsin. The use of “most people” in this context gets me.

I keep (naively) thinking she will come out with a clear position on the Summit project. She’s had plenty of time to learn more, it’s occurring in her House district and she lives on Summit Ave. Yet her pitch is that she will dig into the details to get things done. Seems odd.

The chickens were out over here in St Paul, too!

Our out-of-town 20th anniversary plans look like they will be -wrecked? postponed?- because our kids might make it to state for MTB, so tonight we mark the occasion with a walk to Master Noodle followed by a fun night at @blackhartstp.com! Day 3 of #WeekWithoutDriving 🚶‍♀️🚶

They are planning to add more fluorescent to the existing fluorescent and maybe blinky lights. But that might be too spendy.

To be fair, they plan to do more later. When they do, I hope they make plans based on actual data and sound recommendations rather than things they “are hearing.“

It is preferable that we build for safety and prevent blood being spilled in the first place. But here we are.

According to the article, what problem is the Public Works Director addressing immediately? Is it speed/road design? No, dear reader, it is not. ✨Visibility!✨

I was momentarily heartened to see the city was planning changes to the intersection that could make people safer. They say regulations are written in blood. Maybe infrastructure is, too? www.startribune.com/improvements...

Here is the road leading to the intersection where a mother and two of her children were recently struck and seriously injured by a driver in a hit-and-run. You’ll notice: wide street, shoulders, 30 mph speed limit. I’m no city planner, but this seems like a street where very few drive 30 mph. 🧵

As with most community efforts, it looks easy from afar but is the culmination of untold hours of behind-the-scenes work. Thank you, neighbors! We now can admire this artwork painted by over 100 pairs of hands. 🎨 We hope drivers will slow down to admire it, too.

Hats off to the organizers - a group of my neighbors - who knew the power of engaging many neighbors in this action. They door-knocked, dropped flyers, put up posters, invited our new city council member and media, and recruited volunteers.

Today we painted a spiral on a street intersection to slow traffic and build community. 🧵

To the person who optimistically gave my 12-year-old a copy of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution at the No Kings protest:

Good job, you picked the right kid.

He saw many similarities between the complaints against the British and our current situation and underlined them.

Even though Attorney General Keith Ellison was on the assassin’s hit list, he still showed up at the Minnesota State Capitol to speak at the #NoKings protest. 💪 Also - so many tributes and signs for Rep. Melissa Hortman. RIP to someone who made MN a better place for all.

I am tired of hearing about how ’muscular’ and ‘dominant’ the Trump/Musk administration is. This piece calls out the weakness and immaturity they exhibit. Thanks for the Int’l Women’s Day shoutout. These attitudes don’t belong on the playground either!
