While on a walk, I was venting to my spouse about 20th century classic literature by white authors that is surface level "about" racism or opposed to racism but perpetuates racist ideas or serves as an excuse for the white author to use racial slurs /1

10 Must-Read Collections From Palestinian Poets
The ongoing war on Palestine is one of the greatest tragedies and human rights abuses of our lifetimes, a genocide that began decades ago and continues today. The catastrophic nature of what is happening cannot be overstated. It is absolutely vital that we do not look away from what's happening, that we speak out where we can, and that we culturally and financially support Palestinians wherever possible. I have compiled this list of ten incredible collections of poetry written by Palestinian poets, both ones who are based in Palestine and who are part of the broader Palestinian diaspora.

It's a bit late, but be sure to check out our annual Pride Month playlist selections! There are some excellent LGBTQ+ artists featured, and I hope everyone hears a new song they love!
10 Songs to Add to Your Pride Month Playlist: 2025 Edition
Although I'm sharing this much later than I had really wanted to due to being delayed by moving, I wasn't going to miss it. I have shared a list of songs to add to your Pride Month playlist every year since I started writing The Feminist Bibliothecary blog, and this wasn't going to be the year I didn't. The purpose of this list is to share excellent and eclectic music from a variety of queer artists so everyone can get their fill of music for Pride, ideally no matter what your taste is.

Yesterday was Red Dress Day, and an 11yo Indigenous girl was missing in my city during that time. I saw many local people sharing posts for Red Dress Day, and I saw one person who wasn't me share information intended to help find this girl. It's truly alarming how much caring seems to be for show.

Check Out My Work in FLARE Magazine
I have recently been submitting more of my work for publication outside of this blog, and I can now proudly say that two of my poems have been published by FLARE Magazine in their second issue. FLARE Magazine specialises in publishing fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and artwork that centres experiences with disability and chronic illness. My poem "Surreal," written as a cinquain and inspired by Frida Kahlo's art piece "The Broken Column," and my poem "Villain," written as a duplex and inspired by the othering and villainising of disabled people in fairy tales, are both available to read as part of issue two.

10 New(ish) Poetry Collections to Read for National Poetry Month
April is National Poetry Month, which makes it the perfect occasion to enjoy some poetry. Most collections are fairly quick reads, which makes it something that's excellent to fit into an otherwise full reading schedule. I haven't made many poetry-specific posts in quite awhile, so I thought that here we can focus on poetry collections that were released in the 2020s. Let's explore some of the newer works the world of poetry has to offer! Bless The Daughter Raised By A Voice In Her Head by Warsan Shire Bless The Daughter Raised By A Voice In Her Head…

An Update From The Feminist Bibliothecary
Hello friends! Readers may have noticed that the last couple of years have featured substantially less new content than was previously being released here. In the coming weeks and months, I very much expect this to change. I wanted to share an update on why I haven't been as active, social media places you can find me at, and what kind of posts to expect in the near future and ongoing. The last couple of years have been hard for so many of us, and I am no exception. After posting through the height of covid, I was feeling a lot of burn out.

I'm out to see The Secret of Good Tea for my mum's birthday. We're in the intermission now, but wow, this is absolutely breathtaking so far. Rosanna Deerchild has written a truly phenomenal play, and the cast and crew have truly made this a production to remember.

I'm so tired of Canadians saying things like "we don't ban books here." Yeah. We do. And your complacency is an asset to the censors.

I had a doctor's appointment and errands to run today and now I regret having a corporeal form. Everything hurts so much and I'm exhausted. I don't know how people are physically capable of doing things every single day.

Shubeik Lubeik by Deena Mohamed has to be one of the best graphic novels I've ever read. Absolutely brilliant. Phenomenal worldbuilding. Had me all emotional. Just a masterpiece.
