(WKRC) - A man was arrested after he allegedly showed up at a woman's house armed with a gun following a bad dinner date. According to Boca Daily News, 41-year-old Derek Hurwitch was taken into custody on Wednesday, December 17, after he allegedly arrived at a woman's home unannounced and began acting erratically. The report states the incident began when Hurwitch and the woman went out for dinner, where she clarified that the two were "strictly friends," which reportedly caused Hurwitch to become upset. The woman later called police after Hurwitch allegedly arrived at her residence unannounced and began acting erratically, according to Boca Daily News. She told law enforcement that Hurwitch, at some point during the incident, removed a black firearm from his person; however, he did not point the firearm at anyone or make any verbal threats While speaking with law enforcement, the woman received a phone call from Hurwitch, the outlet reported. When an officer got on the phone to ask questions, Hurwitch reportedly became verbally hostile, using profane and derogatory language toward the officer. He later told police he was willing to speak with them at his home, according to Boca Daily news. According to the station, when officers arrived at Hurwitch's home, he reportedly answered the door before quickly attempting to close it again and allegedly hurled vulgar insults at the officers. As police were leaving the home, Hurwitch allegedly came outside, walked quickly toward them, and got chest-to-chest with one of the officers on scene, per the report. "Hurwitch then grabbed the upper left portion of my department-issued vest with his right hand," the report obtained by Boca Daily News states.
