relationship AlO for being upset that my fiancé "gifted" me a vacuum for our 5-year anniversary? My fiancé, Mark, who's 29, and I just celebrated our 5-year anniversary. We usually do something meaningful-not always pricey, but something that shows we really get each other. To give you some background, I've been putting in 60-hour weeks recently to save up for our wedding. Mark knows I'm knackered and that I've been moaning about how tough it is to keep our flat tidy with our golden retriever, who sheds like crazy. On our anniversary night, he mentioned he had something for me to "make life easier so I could unwind more." I was genuinely thrilled-I thought maybe he'd arranged a spa day or even booked cleaning service for a month. But when I opened the big box, I found a top-of-the- range cordless vacuum. I just stood there, stunned. He was grinning from ear to ear, telling me about its "amazing suction for pet hair" and how it was "a bargain." I tried to be gracious, but eventually, I said that a cleaning gadget felt more like a "chore gift" than an anniversary present. It seemed like he was giving me a better way to tackle household tasks rather than something for me. Mark got really defensive. He claims I'm being ungrateful because it's a "quality-of-life upgrade" and that it cost $400. He said he bought it because he heard me complaining about the floors and thought he was being a "problem solver." Now there's this awkward tension in the house. I feel like my anniversary turned into a critique of my housework, and he feels like he's being penalised for spending a lot on something practical. I've been quiet and a bit distant since then, and he thinks I'm "blowing things out of proportion." Am I overreacti

So, for context this is a text my fiancé got sent from HIS dad (and sent the ss over to me then) I'm getting married soon and my fiancé and I are having a SMALL wedding. We've already sent save-the-dates to the people we actually have relationships with, and we're still finalizing the rest of the guest list. Recently, my fiancé's dad told my fiancé that his grandparents are upset because my fiancé's aunt and uncle haven't received a save-the-date yet. These are relatives we do not speak to and do not have a relationship with. They also did not invite us to their own kid's wedding but What really upset me is that this has now turned into a conditional situation. The message we received was essentially that if we don't invite the aunt and uncle, then my fiancé's grandparents won't come either. That feels incredibly unfair and honestly hurtful. Like idk our wedding is not meant to be a bargaining chip or a tool to "keep the peace," and it doesn't sit right with me that attendance is being framed as leverage. I don't understand why the responsibility to smooth things over falls on us, especially when there's no existing relationship there to begin with. We aren't excluding anyone out of spite. We're simply inviting people who are present in our lives. Being pressured to invite people we don't speak to, simply to avoid upsetting others, feels inappropriate and exhausting. I'm especially hurt because this takes what should be a happy, personal decision and turns it into family politics. We want his grandparents there, but not at the cost of ignoring our own boundaries

AITAH for getting mad at my husband about his dead ex-gf? My husband (29M) and I (27F) have been together for 4 years now and have been married for the last 6 months. Prior to us meeting, my husband had an ex-girlfriend from when he was younger who he was with for 10 years. I've known about her since we first started dating and had no issues as I understood that they were together for a long time and she was his first love. Well she had left him out of the blue stating that she simply did not love him anymore. He was heartbroken over this situation then later on, she passed away unexpectedly. Recently, he was intoxicated and we got into an argument unrelated to his ex-gf. Somehow the argument turned into him talking about their relationship. He emphasized that they were together for 10 years and that he still to this day doesn't understand why she didn't love him anymore. That he doesn't really talk about her to me because 'it doesn't matter' but that he still has nightmares about his heartbreak. Then he said something along the lines of 'What can you do when the love of your life says she doesn't love you like that anymore? Nothing. You can't do nothing, just go find the next best thing'. It stung when he said that because he made it seem like I was just someone he married because he couldn't marry her or be with her. Since then, I haven't talked to him as I feel hurt that even after being married, he called another woman the love of his life. I just don't know if Im being immature and having petty feelings but AITAH for giving him the silent treatment because of his past

AlTA for calling out my girlfriend for exaggerating her period pain and being real with her? So I've been with my girlfriend Anna for about a year now, living together for 3 months. Our relationship has been smooth going, besides when it's her time of the month. You see, Anna always whines and cries about how much pain she's in during her period. Now before I get called out let me be clear, i was raised with two sisters and a mother; I know how much period pains are supposed to hurt. Some throbbing, maybe some occasional cramps, nothing a hot bath and some moltrin can't fix. But when it comes to Anna, she just constantly complains, to the point where we can't do ANYTHING while she's on her period, because she's just constantly complaining. IG & Threads: @ask Anyways this morning we were supposed to go to my parents house to celebrate my dad's birthday, when I get a text from Anna saying she doesn't think she can make it, because it's her period. At this point, I had it with her constant excuses with something that happens to literally EVERY female. That she needs to learn to bare the pain like an adult, because in the real world, nobody's gonna care about some little cramps pain.
