That said the show also appears to have some really stupid annoying shit in it too. If these are two phrases that were memetic enough to get made into cards that does not bode well for my enjoyment

I will admit to being made more curious about Avatar TLA after the Magic set released. I watched an episode like 15 years ago with my college roommates because they were huge fans and it didn't do much for me, but some of the stuff depicted on the cards looks pretty cool, like these two cards.

He had Underworld Dreams out so one of the cards he tutored was Peer into the Abyss, which would have been an instant win if I was forced to let him cast it, but the other two cards did absolutely nothing, so I just shuffled his instant win back into his deck and won like 10 turns later lol
