i was going to say that i'd like one whose branding really commits to black and white. then i realized there's one prominent example of that, and we don't like it. so… green?

shoutout to all the talented designers (including fern) who made these cool little signs back in april, and brought them today - this sparked the convo about wayfinding in the first place!

really exciting win fully owed to @ttcriders.bsky.social volunteers passionate about wayfinding 😊

i made a rare city hall appearance today to talk about the value of wayfinding and to shine light on the lacking state of TTC bus stop signs.

a group of us successfully pushed the TTC board to advance the agency's first-ever wayfinding strategy! 🚏

Fern up next with their amazing sign (that they helped design!!). Joins the call for better way finding system-wide.

the lack of a walk signal parallel to yonge street during that phase manages to be the least annoying thing about this intersection

at one point today, we were at humber college for over 15 minutes and a train never showed up.

revenue service demonstration is 1 week in. not looking good. thanks to crappy operations, i question if there's even enough trains to consistently run frequent <10 min service

So glad to be featured in @ohtheurbanity.bsky.social excellent video!

High costs in Canada have been accepted as an inevitability - as projects are descoped & cancelled.

ION & REM show that another way is possible…

…given the humility to abandon our Anglo roots & learn from global best practice.

The most underappreciated issue in urbanism is the Anglosphere’s transit construction cost problem.

It’s not just that we’re spending too much money on any particular project.

It’s that we could be getting *much more transit* for the *same amount of money we’re currently spending*.

it takes a lot of audacity from the TTC chair to tell a transit advocacy group to muzzle basic asks we hear from riders.

these councillors failed to advance new revenue tools we ask for, cry that there isn't money *every* budget cycle, then call basic transit upgrades "unrealistic".

rinse+repeat.

finch west LRT is currently being tested ahead of opening. like its counterpart, the eglinton crosstown, it's stuck behind left-turning traffic.

note the transit signal showing red while lines of left turning cars advance.

40,000 people are projected to use this line daily when it opens.
