I agree with your reason- now that he makes more, he feels he‘s in a position to let out all his resentment, but preventing him from using her car doesn’t fix anything. He will do other things. I don’t know if he’s amenable to counseling (not couples), but if he won’t work on it, she should leave

The non-triggered, happy, intelligent, driven, loving, compassionate, empathetic women:

A. have found a man,
B. are not looking for a man (happily single, not het), or
C. are likely looking for a man who is loving, compassionate, and empathetic.

You are seeking above your (self-imposed) station

“no expectation of anything in return”

“Modern “chivalry” is a deliberately asymmetrical system, in which women are put under a series of social obligations which they can only “pay off” by acting in a way which the man in question thinks suitable.”

Feminism and the Death of Chivalry: Sticky Gifts, Poisoned Chalices
“Feminism has killed chivalry!” is one of the refrains that comes up repeatedly online.  Or that feminism wants to kill chivalry, can’t kill chivalry, or shouldn’t be allowed to kill chivalry.  Alt…

Yeah, what she’s doing does not make him less of an ass. I would even hesitate to call her a hobosexual, because we don’t know how much she is contributing in domestic labour. She may very well have paid her way.

People in the comments pointing out she let her lease run out, she put “looking for a place” in quotes, she’s mooched off of him for 4 months now, and there‘s no indication he asked her to move in or wants to live together. The unreasonable demands might be a way of getting her out

She’s an ass too

If she got a roommate, why wouldn’t she be able to find a place where her half is $800

Marcus is an ass, but he also can’t logic

He’s 31, are we taking bets on how old she is?

Wonder what their domestic division of labour looks like …. actually, I think I can guess. This isn’t about spontaneous weekends.

She needs to leave him, because even if he (grudgingly) accepts it, he will dedicate himself to sabotaging her work.

That link isn’t working for me, but yup:

Early in the pandemic, when I needed to network with other Menominee folks about mutual aid, everyone told me to talk to those women, and they were 100% right. The process of making things together and putting those things out into the world is important, and dismissing that is often masculinist BS.

I suppose I also take this personally bc attacks on craftivism land poorly with me as a Native person. Beading together, making regalia, sewing in groups — this is at the heart of how the women on my reservation gather to do healing work, political ed, and mutual aid. This has long been true.

Most political performances don't accomplish anything this concrete btw. I applaud the people who've pulled this off.

We are living through a movement moment whose workings must not be wholly visible, even though the movement itself must be visible. That's complicated. Fashion will be part of it.
