HealthWell Foundation helped me pay for my biologic for years. Grants are organized by condition, and they open new ones occasionally, so it's worth checking back if there's nothing available right now. Good luck to Donna. This stuff is hard. www.healthwellfoundation.org

Have you listened to the Penric and Desdemona series by Lois McMaster Bujuold? Fun, fairly short, fantasy stories with a kind of unusual magic system. The first one is Penric's Demon.

They listed all the queer Oscar-bait movies based on literary properties they know. What more do you want from them?

Mr. Big Shot needed a line of armed, masked thugs to guard him while he goes potty.

My mother has to wear a warm compress on her eyes for a little while every night, and I had the men's figure skating on last night while she was doing it. Every time the crowd reacted to a mistake, she would yell, "What? What happened?!" She's super invested in Maxim Naumov making the team.

Not all massage therapists are trained in lymphatic drainage, at least not here in the states. But it’s not specialized beyond knowing which moves to do. As long as you can touch the back of your neck and head you won’t have any trouble doing it for yourself.

Lymphatic drainage massage! I did this routine one time when my sinuses were so blocked that I couldn’t swallow. Opened them up almost instantly. It’s like magic. youtu.be/QA-wi0d7-Ro?...

There are terrible people in the world, and it's not wrong to reflect that in fiction. But when every female character is evil, or nice but killed off so that the MCs can adopt her kids, it's a problem. It's gotten a lot better since then, but I'm not sure we can say it's a misogyny-free zone.
January 8, 2026 at 2:11 AM
There may not be misogyny directed toward the leads, but there’s sometimes boatloads of misogyny directed toward secondary characters. The reaction from readers when a bi hero interacts with a woman can be pretty gross, too. M/M can be better in some ways, but way more toxic in others.

I once sprained my ankle while sitting on the toilet. Not while getting on or off the toilet. Not tripping over the toilet. Just sitting there.

Ah. I read Consort of Fire a couple of years ago now, but I somehow never followed up with book two. I'll have to get on it.

This is the second time in the last couple of days that I’ve seen someone talking about horny dragon and kraken books. What am I missing?

It wasn't an invasion. We just bombed them, kidnapped their leader, and we're going to run their country until we can place leadership of our own choosing. No big.

It did! There was enough volume that it couldn't set up, and she got the sugar to cut through the acid from the tomato and the lemon flavor she was looking for. That was probably close to 40 years ago now, and as you can see, we still talk about it.

That's okay. I view most recipes as really more of a suggestion myself. But then, my grandmother ran out of fresh lemon to make her fancy, doctored up tomato juice one NYE, so she subbed out the lemon and sugar for a box of lemon Jello. So I come by my reckless disregard for recipes naturally.
