Oh, I love their dyes! I requested he do the Milil one a while back, and I adore his Loviatar for my Durge and Balduran for my Tav.
My mod unlocks all the vanilla dyes to be infinite use and gives you a big pot with all of them in the tutorial chest, but the color combos on those can be bizarre.

Armor of Persistence and Armor of Agility are some of my favorites. Those are in the city proper, though. In Rivington, go shopping with the chipper Dragonborn lady and the shady dude across from the barn, but don't approach him with Shadowheart if you want to shop with him first.

Seconding this. Karlach is amazing as mobile artillery, especially with Tavern Brawler feat. Might be a little late for the Act I Returning Pike, but there's another great weapon for her early in Act III, if you don't mind pissing off a genie ;)

Shadowheart will choose to save her folks on her own, but you need to take her around to certain parts of the city for a few conversations. Which if you don't know where to go means having her in your party constantly and not dealing with her story right off the bat so they can trigger.
