This is erasure and theft. If ANSEP is built on basic Alaska Native principles, and they remove "Alaska Native" from the title, they are stealing Alaska Native intellectual property in the same way the qayaq was disassociated from its Indigenous origins and now profits non-Indigenous businesses.
The Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program has removed the phrase “Alaska Native” from its website. The award-winning University of Alaska program is now referred to simply as its acronym, ANSEP.
