This bears repeating. Today. From HC Richardson.

Lincoln asked Americans, “ to resolve that “these dead shall not have died in vain; that the nation, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

From Mamdani's mayoral address, via @hcrichardson.bsky.social Wowza. #GoodQuote

Rather than using “the good grammar of civility…to mask agendas of cruelty,” he said, they would “replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.”

Love "Too Fabulous for Fascism"
This New Years Eve, I remind myself-
Lo alecha...it is not yours to finish the task, neither are you free to desist from the work.
A core aim of authoritarianism is to erode our will to resist so they coast to total control.
A toast to our commitment to be Too Fabulous for Fascism.

"Americans live with individual freedoms unimaginable to previous generations. But that freedom makes cohesion difficult. Social trust is a form of restraint, a willingness to set aside individual desires out of respect for some greater good."

" that Trump has recently exhibited both an inability to focus on any topic, and a need to live in a carefully constructed world that ignores reality and assures him he is the best and the brightest. A high-stakes meeting with principals . . . might have been too much"
