Another consideration relevant to this thesis (Musa al-Sadr killed by Qaddafi, due to Iran hardliners' pressure) is that it fits with the the antagonism between Khomeini and Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr, cousin of Musa, and equally politically active in Iraq.

Timing may or may not be casual, but #KSA #Pakistan defence treaty is another sign of the eastward shift of the barycentre of power in world politics, caused *also* by Western states to support #Israel unconditionally.

Notable that many of the F-15s and F-16s in #IAF footage - supposedly from last night - are carrying 2000lb GBU-31(V)1 JDAMs. Suggests Israel has established sufficient control of the air to operate non-stealth aircraft directly over Iranian targets without relying on standoff weapons like Rampage

Foreseeable and yet striking stance from #Hezbollah saying that it will not initiate hostilities against #Israel in conjunction with its attack against #Iran.

#Israel's explanation of #IranUnderAttack implies 2 violations of Int. Law:

Using force to "roll back a threat" is preventive, not covered by self-defence.

Nuclear scientists, unless they R members of the Iranian armed forces, are not legitimate targets of attack under IHL.

We have lost all contact with our UNRWA colleagues in Gaza, communications have been cut off.

This morning, for the first time in months, we did not receive their morning messages to say, "good morning" and "we are fine/alive".

We anxiously await to hear from our colleagues.
