Hilariously, the basketball decapitation isn't even directly mentioned in the extended advice, just "gory flesh and bone fragments splattered across a room", which seems like a strange thing to miss.

I think we got Case 39 so far ahead of the US release that I recommended it to @phelous.bsky.social and he reviewed it before it came out there, and there were people on the AV Club's review that were like, "didn't Phelous review this already?"

I keep seeing people say this is due to motion smoothing on TVs, which is probably partly true, but this was partly inspired by an Instagram reel that blamed LED lights not being bright enough or some nonsense.

I think most crews prefer lights that don't potentially burst into flames.

In a year of beautifully shot films like One Battle After Another, Sinners, Hamnet, and a whole bunch of others, it tells me you're either watching the wrong kind of films, or not watching much of anything.
