I wasn't either, but I was immediately captivated by her performance in this the first time I watched it. That led me to read up on her, and she was a very interesting woman.

For me, it's all about Zita Johann's performance as Anck-es-en-Amon. She's such an eccentric actress, and it clearly shines through in her portrayal here. I'm not even a particularly big fan of The Mummy story, but she really elevates this one into top-tier.

Great film. It wasn't technically his first as he did Stereo & Crimes of the Future earlier in the 70s, but his feature length run starts here. You might as well check out Rabid, The Brood & Scanners now 🥳
