“'The guy, I’m telling him like, "Please step off the school grounds," and this dude comes up and bumps into me and then tells me that I pushed him, and he knocked me down,' an official at Roosevelt High School said. 'They don’t care. They’re just animals. I’ve never seen people behave like this.'"

@sanders.senate.gov: "We have already had 15 Republicans in the Senate defy Trump and say, 'Release the SNAP funds.' So I think that if we had held firm, it would be the Republicans who would yield. That was not the position of these 8 Democrats."

They caved. Senate Democrats caved. Their voters demanded just one very simple thing: FIGHT. Dammit, just FIGHT. Instead, they caved.

Trump is 30 points underwater. Dems swept the special elections. People know the GOP is responsible for the shutdown. So the Dem Senators pulled out their big guns... and shot themselves in the foot.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

I don’t care if Schumer voted no. If he’s unable to wrangle the caucus, he’s not an effective leader. I’ll continue to push for the caucus to elect a new one.

Dem base that gave them a blue tsunami: DON'T CAVE

Majority of Dem elected officials: DON'T CAVE

The majority of Americans blame the GOP for the shutdown and higher costs...

8 Dem Centrists (and you better believe Schumer knows what's up): Nah, We'll cave.

I guarantee you calls came from donors.

Sanders: That is a totally meaningless gesture. You can get 100 votes here and it won't mean anything because the House is not going to take it up.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.

Under Schumer's leadership, eight Democrats (Cortez Masto, Durbin, Fetterman, Hassan, Kaine, King, Rosen, & Shaheen) joined the Republicans in moving forward a bill to reopen the government without ACA subsidies—Dems' stated key aim—or any other real concessions from the status before the shutdown.

Democrats won't create the lasting change or tap into the rage of the majority with Schumer and Jeffries in the lead. Centrists won't get it done, no matter how the establishment wills it. The country has radically shifted. The last 10 years is your evidence.

@kaine.senate.gov Not only did you help Trump get elected with your part of the campaign for 2016 you’ve also betrayed the people now in 2025. You got nothing and you caved when it counted. I will gladly give $ to any opponent that challenges you and I bet there are lot of others who will too.

Here’s the list of the eight Democrats who caved:

⚫️ Catherine Cortez Masto
⚫️ Dick Durbin
⚫️ John Fetterman
⚫️ Maggie Hassan
⚫️ Tim Kaine
⚫️ Angus King
⚫️ Jackie Rosen
⚫️ Jeanne Shaheen

Their excuses don’t hold water. They betrayed all Americans who were counting on them to stand firm and keep fighting.

@durbin.senate.gov absolutely pathetic. ‪Yet again proving that the Democrat leadership is useless and weak. You got nothing. You caved for nothing! You may be retiring but you’ll forever be remembered as one of the people who screwed Americans when they needed you the most to hold the line.
November 10, 2025 at 3:39 AM
Dem leadership needs to step down for this failure this week. No confidence in Schumer must happen and every single one of the yes votes need to be removed from any leadership roles now and sanction by every state party willing to do it. Not another dime! They have betrayed the American people.
