The first are existing PC/Steam users that want an effective way to take their PC gaming into the living room. It's a similar audience to what the Steam Deck has been targeting, which are gamers looking for a way to continue playing Steam away from the desktop. This is a pretty high-end customer; someone who can justify buying a second gaming PC for use in a different scenario. As a point of comparison, Steam Deck has sold between four and five million units, according to various analysts. It's a small audience but a significant one, because these players are often the most engaged users and therefore the highest spenders.

Personal responsibility: In the absence of companies doing anything about it, that means it is down to us as individuals to take a stand. If you are a games business leader, push for your company to protect its rights, the staff who create for you, and the players who gather around your creations. If you work within a studio, push your leaders to foster cultures where the extremes of our subculture are challenged, not given prominence. If you play, ask whether you, your friends, or your communities are being co-opted in ways you don't like (and have the confidence to speak out if you do). And if you're watching the industry from outside in the press or political worlds, be prepared to kick the sector if it doesn't get its act together soon.

There’s not a debate to influence.
Osborn added that companies will need to defend their rights and creative ideas as this usage isn't going to stop. The problem with finding review scores fundamentally silly is that trying to make sense of this is impossible for me. Like, no, I don’t see the complexity. They’re meaningless grades even If you Ace it out of a thousand.

And also aggregate sites should fuck off, obv.
I think as well, things are tougher for us in a five-star system. I do like how clear-cut five stars are, but it's complicated in other ways. Five stars is 'full marks' but is definitively not perfect, right? And less perfect than a 10 in a 10-point system, by design. So I look at my Dragon Age review on VG247 and feel three stars at a glance reads a little harshly - though if you read the text I think it's justified, obviously. But the truth is, three stars reads a little tough because The Veilguard is truly a 7/10-ass 7/10. But it's the lower end of a seven, so it gets three stars, but three stars translates on the aggregation sites to 60/100, or 6/10, which definitely looks harsher. See the complexity?

This is at the heart of much of my frustration with it over time. People keep turning round and saying that stuff explicitly mentioned and repeated isn’t there and it makes me want to tell Bobby I didn’t bring their gameboy so no Tetris and we’re not going to Lord Of The Dance next.
But, again, is the campaign truly asking for ongoing provision of infrastructure? “There is no aspect of the petition that asks for publishers to continue updating software or hosting servers on their infrastructure, and those arguing against that strawman rather than engaging with what’s actually being discussed are being tremendously disingenuous.” Rob Fahey - Stop Being Dismissive About Stop Killing Games As discussed earlier, I strongly disagree with this assessment. The petition directly implies a legal requirement for publishers to update software or provide infrastructure in the event that end-of-life attempts fail or it turns out - at any time in the future - that relevant services can’t be readily excised or replicated.
