Around the time video game violence discourse circled around The Last of Us 2, I joked with a friend that if people really wanted players to feel guilty about who they killed, we should be forced to watch their happiest moments before they get gunned down by a Drake-type. Someone out there gets me:
As if doing a low honour run in Red Dead Redemption 2 didn't make you feel guilty enough in comes a mod that gives NPCs memories for you to watch before murdering them
Suddenly, violence doesn't seem like the answer.

Not sure how King Ghidorah is getting much sound out of those instruments with no hands and that trumpet jammed in the back of his throat

But you also just know he is somehow absolutely shredding
Front cover of a novelty Godzilla 45, featuring various kaiju playing musical instruments.

Notably, King Ghidorah has a trumpet and a sax, both mysteriously floating inside two of his mouths. Back cover of a novelty Godzilla 45. Again featuring kaiju with musical instruments.

Here King Ghidorah is somehow playing a flute with his third and final mouth.

it’s wild how many people on The Other Site are glazing that SNES RPG book author. lots of headass culture war types with genAI avatars of 60+ year old white dudes with bios like “unwoke. ex-marine. love our lord. polymath. gaming since the reagan era. father of 12. just here for free thoughts.”

I was naive to think the ~7GB FFXI download wouldn't need a big update right off the bat. So naive.
Screenshot of the PlayOnline Final Fantasy XI downloader screen. It notes that there are 4739 of 4752 files remaining to download, and a download time of 2 hours and 22 minutes remaining.

Really wish it was possible to reintegrate it into Phantom Pain. There's a prerendered flashback cutscene during the helicopter ride after you rescue Kaz that feels stylistically out of place, and I'm convinced it's where Ground Zeroes was meant to be played

I really love that you can get it bundled with either Promise Mascot Agency, Keep Driving, or Dredge too, each one is perfectly paired

There's an IGN article from 2000 that has many of these noted, along with a few other curious ones...
www.ign.com/articles/200...
Pat Buchanan, Reform Party

"I'm impressed with the technology of the PlayStation 2, as it's obviously a very powerful system. I just wish that it were the same color as the Dreamcast. The color of the PS2 doesn't go well with my hood." Al Gore, Vice President

"The PlayStation 2 is even more amazing than the Internet. I'm proud that I've had a part in inventing it." George W. Bush, Governor

"The PlayStation 2 is an amazing piece of technology and is the future of this country. I just can't get enough of Jet Grind Radio and Shenmue." Cheech Marin, Actor

"When you're fried there's nothing more enjoyable than playing FantaVision on PlayStation 2. It's easily the best game since Cybermorph."

Well, it was an agonizing run from like Day 25 to Day 40 but I did it, I got to an ending and was completely alienated from *everybody*

Oof.

After playing Amagami and LovePlus over the last few weeks, I've concluded:
- dating sims are an essential genre
- everyone should play at least one dating sim in their life
- it's possible for icons on a hex grid to break your heart
- @iiotenki.bsky.social oughta get some wheelbarrows full of cash
fivedollardare.bsky.social
I understand now 😰

Amagami's really great. I spent so much time with Ayatsuji that I'm watching helplessly as all my other friendships erode, and I'm forced to just run the clock day in and day out, until I hear that my estranged schoolmates are living their best, while I wonder "what if?"

Finally started playing Amagami. Beyond what little I've learned from reading posts over here I'm going in spoiler free.

I've gravitated towards Ayatsuji over the first couple of in-game weeks. It feels like every time we hang out, it's either vaguely threatening, or earnestly cute.
Screenshot from the game Amagami Ebikore+ on the PlayStation Vita. Image is of the character Ayatsuji, looking back at you and into your soul, with a vaguely threatening air. Her dialogue box reads: "Take care now..." Screenshot from the game Amagami Ebikore+ on the PlayStation Vita. In conversation with the character Ayatsuji, whose dialogue box reads: "It seems like it'd feel so nice to shut everything down and just run."

This seems earnestly cute! Screenshot from the game Amagami Ebikore+ on the PlayStation Vita. Another moment, this time in the shopping district at dusk, of Ayatsuji glancing back at you as you walk behind her.

This... also feels vaguely threatening. Screenshot from the game Amagami Ebikore+ on the PlayStation Vita.

Image is of a partly cloudy sky at dusk. Text on screen is from the game's Log, showing a transcript of a dialogue exchange between a Shopkeeper, Mizuno (the player character), and Ayatsuji.

Shopkeeper: "Mm-hmm, a respectable girlfriend you have there. Don't let this one get away, now, y'hear?"

Mizuno: "Eh?"
Ayatsuji: "Fufu, 'girlfriend'."

Shopkeeper: "Oh, was I mistaken?"
Ayatsuji: "Maybe, who knows~"
Mizuno: "Hahaha..."

This! This was cute!

It's great how easy it is to get screenshots off the Vita, because now I can hold myself publicly accountable here for my choices (good and bad)
Screenshot from the game Amagami Ebikore+ on the PlayStation Vita. Image is of a shortcut in the back of the school. Rihoko is stuck in a hole in the fence and you (the player character) come across her there.

The dialogue tree reads:
-SELECT:
• Guess I have to help Rihoko!
• Guess I'll leave Rihoko and head to the main gate!
• I'm already late anyway! Let's bully Rihoko! (This choice is highlighted)
